Huh. Guess about now, I'm making it to the 'been here a year' club. Is that a club? Some of us have been here a while at least, from what I've gathered. So it wouldn't surprise me. But...you know, I don't even mind. The only thing that could make this better is having Guren and the rest of our squads here. This place is way better than things back home.

p[He pauses then, chewing at the end of his pencil as he glares down at some books and papers next to him at his desk, having turned his phone on in the middle of doing homework.

Ew, homework. He makes a face before sighing, running a hand through his mop of hair as he continues then.]

Still, I have a bit longer to go here before I'd finish school. I know a couple friends offered, but if anyone's tutoring or whatever, I could probably use it to get through these last few months at least. I was kind of more focused on....other stuff back home than classes and all.

[Like. Surviving living with the vampires, and then being more focused on learning how to kill them, to bother paying attention in class once he did get access to school again. Yuu has had rather an interrupted education, to say the least.]

[Mika recognizes that voice, so of course he answers.]

It's strange to think about. You're technically older than me now.

Me? I hadn't even thought of that. But your birthday is coming up! Then....we'd be the same age again? Time here is weird. You're always the older one. And heck, even now with me being 'older' you can still kick my ass.

[Vampire strength or not. Yuu knows it. It's always been that way.]

I'm surprised you admitted it.

[Mika turns thoughtful. It's true, his birthday is coming up. He hadn't thought about that. It's a surprise that Yuu remembers.]

...I haven't celebrated that in years.

[But the pout doesn't remain at his lips long, for the teasing, given what Mika says next.]

I figured that was probably the case. Those vampires probably don't pay attention to stuff like birthdays when they're...I don't know, centuries old or whatever. But that just means I gotta come up with something really awesome for your birthday next month, Mika!

[Yuu's face all but lights up at the initial excitement and promise to figure something special for Mika.

He just has to come up with something neat for it.]

[He doesn't expect anything less from Yuu, nevertheless.. the idea that he's worth being celebrated makes him pause. Mika leans in, yearning to hear more. Especially since Yuu is so excited about it.]

Of course, Mika! That's what family does. There's especially a lot to make up for if it's been a while since you had a birthday party. I mean, I guess cake might be a little tricky, but. I'll figure something!

[He wants this to work out. As well as it could. Mika deserves that much at least.]

[Mika can't help but stare. Has it really been that long since they were together in Sanguinem? He doesn't quite know how to react. It's not like they could get a cake when they were with the other orphans. So it's not a huge loss to him if they can't get one here, either.]

[If Yuu's grown used to celebrating his birthday, Mika's glad. The only thing he's sad about is that he's not been there to celebrate with him.]

You could always make a cake and eat a slice in my place.

But that wouldn't be fair. I mean not that I am used to birthday parties either, but Guren tried to remember and do a little something at least. And last time you took me to that theme park, here. So I gotta figure something awesome for yours!

[Even if most...probably all vampires don't really celebrate. He still wants to do something for Mika.]

[While it's a little annoying to hear Yuu talk about Guren, it's quickly overshadowed by how pleasant it felt to hear him chat about birthdays.]

[Mika smiles weakly at the mention of the theme park. It's a good idea. Suits Yuu. He just wishes that he could remember it.]

You don't have to do anything special. It's enough for me that I have you here with me.

[The video will have her feeling pensive as she listens to him, finding it a little grim to hear more about his home, knowing enough about it being a dangerous world. As much as she was glad he was safe in this one, she rather he was in her world instead. He would be better looked after there, in her opinion, but whatever the case she'll answer as she normally would.]

Tutoring? Do you need help with your lessons?

That...I guess. I've been managing okay by sticking around the library to do my homework, but I'm getting tired of it taking so long.

[Tutoring, one on one, that should help cram more of all this into his head to figure the answers quicker. Or so Yuu figures, anyway. In theory. If he didn't get too distracted depending on who might offer to help him out with this.]

Oh, there's a library you use to study and do...homework?

[Why is it called "homework" if you aren't doing it at home? Nike doesn't get it, but.]

Do you want me to come over and help you speed the process up a bit? I want to see what this world is teaching you guys in form of education. I'm curious!

Yeah. I mean, it's just easier there where I can look stuff up if I have to. Depending on what the homework is. But if you think you're bored enough, you're free to come look it over if you want.

[Not that he expects her to really help much. Given she doesn't recall most of her time here and all. But if she's that bored and curious. She should probably check out the library if she hasn't already anyway.]

I might just do it. It'll be fun to have something to complain about and agree. Could help in improving our bond.

Well, it doesn't hurt until we try it, right? [She likes to think so at least.] But the main library? Got it. I'll be there soon. Give me a half hour to get there.

[And with that said, she'll turn off the communicator and head on over to the library as quickly as she could. To the point that she'll arrive to the library already dressed for work even when it was a little too early to go.]

Yuu? Were you able to finish your homework?

[Though, he hadn't really specified where in the library he was sitting with his small pile of books for reference. He's at one of the desks near the windows, to the edge of the library, out of the way and wearing his headphones again by the time Nike approaches, catching the movement from the corner of his eye as he then pauses the song.]

You would? That'd be great, Kaneki! I picked up some English back home, since that's what most of the books were written in that the vampires had, but I'm still not the best with it. That and the history here is a little different and I'm still wrapping my head around it. I guess you have been here longer to know more on that with this world specifically.

[Still. Kaneki is at least someone he already knows. Someone who already knows where Yuu lives, so. That could work out.]

[And so long as he reminds Mika, his friend wouldn't panic at him not being straight home after school. He's usually at the library for an hour or two after class anyway.]
