[Crane sends the address out at 3pm sharp. He stands hunched against a wall with a bundle of files in his arms. Those with an eye for detail might notice math problems on a public whiteboard on the right; peppered with numerous red corrections that range from simple corrections to veiled insults.]
What affect have our ambassadors had on our lives?
[He turns his attention to the camera, eyes hooded. His tone is calm and polite but with a measure of boredom to it.]
Do we possess the same rights as native people? Does the government provide adequate care? Is it safe where we live? [In Maurtia Falls especially.] Who enacts the laws that rule our lives? Who legislates for education and social security? Ambassadors are our representatives - yet they are intimately acquainted with the culture of our hosts. Does this cozy arrangement mean they are politically trusted because they don't ask questions and challenge official stories? In simple terms, what do our ambassadors do for us?
[His fingertips grasp his chin.]
Also, one last question: who amongst us might earn your future nomination? Count Dooku, perhaps? Now there's a man with a political mind...
[Koma-san June 2016. Never forget.]

I always knew where to find food. But not having legal access to it meant I could be arrested for acquiring said food. [ he robbed morgues, tampered with crime scenes, stole from cemeteries. All of those are crimes, but hey, he needed to eat. it's much more comfortable not having to sneak inside a police station to steal bodies ]
With the bill the ambassadors presented to the government, I no longer have to worry about that because I have legal access to what I need.

The human right to food. I assure you - not everybody will agree with you having access to what you need. It must be hard keeping your nature to yourself.
[Because parading cannibalism in public, for whom it's a taboo, generally isn't done.]

I'm not human and I'm used to having no rights. But they did allow me to have them here and be treated equal to other imPorts. [ so he should be allowed to eat without persecution, regardless of his registration status - as long he doesn't hurt anyone, of course. Bodies are actually easy to find and provide ]
I used to keep it to myself, but the media made a huge show out of it. I've also found its easier to be honestabout it than lying or trying to pretend it's not what I am. [ everyone already knows. Kaneki's files were leaked twice, the media made a huge deal out of it, he has a fan group called "The Kennibals". Nothing of this topic is new, even if he tried to keep a secret. It comes up and he can't fight his nature either - he tried and that never went well.
This world is strangely accepting of it, as long he isn't hurting anyone. So are imPorts. ]

I see. It proved easy to be honest, but was it easy to accept people's interest in you?

We have to adapt to the life we are given. I'm certain I'm not the only one who others find interesting, many imPorts deal with the same.

[He has the awful experience of being the subject of fascination. Much of it born from nonsense, rumor and rubbish. Gossip, in other words.]

Anyway,
Tell me, Dr. Crane, what do you expect from imPort ambassadors?
no subject
[The American dream. He says it so boredly that his entire manner borders on absurdity.]
I expect nothing. Expecting anything from them means taking less responsibility for my own life and decisions. That's not my style.

There are a number of excluded details, but that's the gist of it.

[Teaching people that he is to be feared. That he is invulnerable.
With fear gas? Yes. But he doesn't need a tool anymore to burn his image.]
