[Here is a message sent out relatively early in the morning; those that live the life of a nine-to-fiver will probably catch it if checking the network is part of their morning routine.
Senketsu is in the kitchen. The sound of water simmering is in the background as breakfast cooks.]
Good morning, everyone.
Although I know that there is a great diversity of cultures from the world of my origin, my knowledge of each one of them is woefully slim. What kinds of food people eat and why...what they wear and what it means to them...and perhaps the most peculiar: spirituality and religion. Since we live in a world where people are brought in from other universes, our diversity is even greater.
So I ask you, fellow imPorts: What kind of culture do you come from? What parts of it mean the most to you, and what about it would you change if you could?
Thank you for your time.
[Filtered to Kanaya Maryam]
If you would be so kind, would you get a hold of me at your convenience? There's something I'd like to ask of you.

The culture I come from is vastly different to this one already, so any I would change don't really exist here. [ like intergalactic conquest, or trying to kill her pseudo brother at birth. ] The parts I'd preserve, well, I've been on Earth long enough to know they'll be an uphill battle.
[ her postscript is private, mirroring his filter. ]
Now's convenient. What is it I can assist you with?
video/private 1/?
As for my inquiry, well...
no subject
...you see, I've become quite good at using my hands now, and...
done
This is ridiculous. Clothes asking for such a thing. This isn't his place--
But he wants to know so badly.]
I was wondering...if you'd be willing to teach me how to sew.
private.
Ah.
You don't...have any tears, do you? [ ???? ]
private.
No, no, I can heal on my own. I want to know how to make things.
private.
Well, I suppose I could give you a few pointers. What sort of clothes are you looking to make?
Re: private.
That's a good question; the issue is, how does he answer it?]
...Women's clothes.

Should we meet up somewhere?

I have work in a few hours, but I get out a little after four.

...Dunno if there's a name for the 'culture' or whatever. But I'm from Iwatodai, Japan- year 2009.
Never gave it much thought. But today'd be Tanabata back home, in some places. Usually just has to do with festivals, putting wish-tags on trees and shit. I can't think of too much that's worth going into, though.
What specific part d'you wanna know?
no subject
Would you have participated in Tanabata?
no subject
[He shrugs.]
...I did as a kid. Guess it depends now. It's just kinda an excuse to get together, check out the festival stands, that kinda thing. I ain't really checked it out in a few years.
no subject
Japanese festivals like that are quite abundant though, aren't they?
no subject
[Another nod.] They are. Most are just an excuse to get off've school or something, though.
no subject
Do you think that's how your friends think of them too, or do they value the intent of the festival? A celebration meant to reflect on things that may be taken for granted--or perhaps forgotten in the hectic pace of day-to-day life.
...or, perhaps, simply for entertainment.

What's Unitology?
no subject
It's a sort of religion. A very crazy one and wrong one.
no subject
Would you elaborate, please?
no subject
They worship an alien artifact called the Marker and believe that the only way to salvation is through something called Convergence. Which, actually just involves everyone dying messy deaths.

[How oddly familiar.]
Some people embrace the concept of obliterating their own kind. It's peculiar.

[Satsuki, for all that she sounds more or less neutral, is actually rather pleased.]
I hope you aren't going to be overwhelming yourself.
no subject
I don't think I'm at risk for that, since I ask entirely out of boredom.
Despite what we were apparently brought here to do, things are a lot less...eventful...than what they were at home.
no subject
It gives me time to prepare.

What're you up to this morning besides expanding how far your mind extends?
no subject
And even then his inquiries would be entirely curiosity.]
Making breakfast! A hearty egg souffle loaded with vegetables and meat, strips of pan-fried bacon, and honey quinoa bread that I made last night. Devilled eggs, too--just because I found a recipe that I wanted to try.
Do you want some?
