[The camera turns on, a bit unsteady at first, though it gets adjusted to give a better view after a moment. The man operating the camera is older than the average imPort, with a streak of white in his hair that's clearly from actual aging as opposed to the normal white haired pretty boys of the imPort population. Though faint, the camera's audio picks up the rain of De Chima in the background, which serves as background noise when the man speaks with what is very clearly a Russian accent.]
Hello, everyone. I am Doctor Anatoly Eldarov, and I would like to start off by apologizing if this video is poorly done. I am still very much getting used to this. Not just this as in the States, though that is obviously a massive change in and of itself, but the technology. This place is a good sixty years in the future from when I am from, so, well - I know they say you cannot teach an old dog new tricks, but it seems to me a prudent thing to attempt to catch up on all that has changed, if only so I don't become a burden on other people or make egregious errors when attempting to operate technology or talk about modern current events. If anyone else has come from the relative 'past', and can advise me on how to proceed in learning about what I have missed, I would be incredibly thankful for that.
And if anyone could tell me if there's a synagogue in De Chima or near enough for me to regularly attend, that would also be appreciated. I tried but I am afraid I am still woefully unskilled at looking these things up on the internet. Hopefully I will improve on that front with time.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. [And with that, he carefully turns the camera off, smiling slightly, as if relieved that went well.]

[bless Schmoogle Maps.]

Re: video
[he runs a hand through his hair, thinking.]
Tell me where ya are, I'll see if I can do the search for you.
video
Ah, well, if you insist. I am afraid I have yet to begin work here so I lack any funds to repay you for your assistance. Nonetheless, I live in De Chima, in the government housing. Number 007.
Re: video
[he takes a couple of moments to reply, but eventually texts over a link with a map and directions. once again, thank you schmoogle maps.]
There. Just, uh, press that blue thing with your finger.
video
[Russian politeness dictates he needs to at least make the offer, even if Anatoly is keenly aware he is currently new and rather useless to the people here.]
Oh. Thank you, sir. I appreciate this.
Re: video
[he knows the struggles of being bad with tech.]
Er, you could tell me what you find different. All these alternate timelines get confusin'...
Re: video
Well, that question, while very valid, is only going to get more confused by my own lack of knowledge. I really only know Russian history and the history of both the World Wars, and not the second in full, seeing as it ended a mere two and a half years ago for me. [Much of that political fallout is still settling, even in his own country; tensions are easing or increasing in places, war crimes are still being uncovered, and all of it is of such a scale as to drive any sane person mad if they were to attempt to take it all in at once.] I do intend to write down what the differences are to the best of my knowledge and then perhaps talk with others to make sure I have my facts straight. All of this is confusing, but it becomes labyrinthine if I try to puzzle it out by myself.
Re: video
[archie no that is clickbait trash]
Two world wars, huh? Sounds similar to the Earth a lot of people here come from.
video
That is unfortunate. I served in the first, and my youngest son died in the second. Although it might sound foolish, I hope there is a world out there that has never known conflicts of such a scale. Having seen so many lay dead and dying in such great pain, I would not wish those wars or indeed any war upon anyone.
Re: video
[archie knows he got off easy, with his world.]
video
If your world has not had such wars, that is a blessing of its' own kind. I am glad to know that at least some didn't have to suffer such things.
Re: video
He'd probably be real proud of ya, ya know? It's hard to keep on keepin' on after somethin' like that.
video
I hope so. Difficult as it is, I know that giving into despair or retreating from the world was the last thing he would have wanted me to do. So I resumed my work as a doctor as soon as I could, after I got the news. Here, perhaps I might be able to do more. If I can keep other parents from having to bury their children, then I will be satisfied.
Re: video
Ay, there's always a need for more doctors. I'm sure you'll be able to find somewhere that needs ya!
video
Re: video
video
[He'd ask Archie to come over, but he wasn't sure where the man was, and such an imposition wasn't really very polite.]
Re: video
[he snorts lightly.]
It's fine, bro. I'll come to you. Where are you?
video
If you're sure you can come without aggravating the injury... well, better this than not having it looked over at all, I suppose. I live in De Chima, in the government housing. 007.
Re: video
[also, he just prefers to see medically minded imports than the natives.]
I'll be there in a tick!
video to action?
