Shell 001 [video]

[The camera starts up on a pair of violet eyes and pans back to show two girls- one brunette with a large black bow atop her head and a slightly taller blonde, the owner of the eyes, who grins and offers a jaunty wave..]

There we go! Hey Heropa, I'm Yang and this is my partner Blake-

[Blake looks at the camera for a moment, blinks, and gives a small wave.]

... Hey.

[Social relations aren't her strong point, okay. Yang only rolls her eyes a little, still smiling, before continuing.]

-and we're one half of team RWBY, but unfortunately, the other two letters of our team are woefully absent. So! If any of you run into a girl with black hair, a red cape and a huge scythe, that's my little sister Ruby.

Our other member is a girl with white hair, blue eyes and a scar over her left eye. Her name is Weiss.

If anyone has seen either of them, please let us know.

If nothing else, the yelling will give Weiss away, and Ruby will probably be fawning over someone's weapon. Don't hesitate to let 'em know we're looking either- it might kick their butts into gear.

[Yang flashes a look at Blake then, brows rising.]

Anything else?

Shouldn't we at least ask them what this world is like? We don't really know anything about it.

[Not being in Remnant was definitely going to take some getting used to.]

Oh... huh, I guess that's true! So... anyone feel like telling us what this place is like?

[Yang bends forward then, offering a bright, pretty smile that's obviously meant to be charming, tilting her head to one side.]

Either way, thanks a bunch in advance guys, we appreciate it.

[A wink, and she reaches to shut the video off.]

[ Team RWBY... not hard to put together when the names mentioned were Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang. Not a very creative name, but they're young ladies. ]

What similarities does this world share with the one you are from then? [ Other than horrible fashion choices. ]

Be easier to tell you what this place is like if I can use other terms you're familiar with for an example.

[They didn't choose the name ok?!!!]

So far? Just some of the tech and clothes- considering people with powers are a big deal, it seems like Huntsmen and Huntresses aren't the norm here either.

[A shrug, chin all but slamming into her hand.]

There's a distinct lack of Grimm creatures and people with any kind of Semblance too.

[ Still judging for the name........ ]

That's it? [ A lot of that is lost on her. Distinction between male and female hunters is interesting on it's own at any rate. ] Semblance--are those creatures that aren't what they seem?

Plenty of that to be found here.

[Rude, Nat, ruuuuude...]

No, Semblances are... natural abilites, like the powers people get here. They're usually unique to whoever has them, though of course sometimes people wind up with similar ones.

Otherwise... I mean the building styles are pretty familiar and from what I can tell so's the media and stuff.

[Another helpless shrug.]

It's just... kind of weird how so much is like home and so different at the same time, you know?

[ Listen, she’s seen her fair share of dumb names, but what does RWBY even stand for other than the obvious first letter of their given names? ]

Strange yes, but perhaps something that could be used to your advantage.

After all, you don’t have to relearn terminology or technology. You have figured out this device already, haven’t you?

[ It’s too late in her life for her to give a speech about gratitude, so she just politely nods behind large sunglasses. Even if it’s rude to wear them while chatting away with someone, it isn’t as if Yang’s left her with any choice. Those bright colors… ]

[Who even knows, GD Beacon Academy and its crazy color name rules.]

You got a point there, yeah. Still, some of the stuff I've been reading up on is super crazy like. Wow. Do people on this planet really have nothing better to do than fight with each other all the time?

[She's not even that bright! Her hair just happens to have a very lustrous glow, thank you. Besides, she digs the shades, they remind her of her own.]

[Excuse you, they are both very fashionable. Though not very practical for combat but that's besides the point.]

It's similar enough in some aspects. Buildings, transportation and clothing...

Is the world naturally inhabited by just humans?

[ No that's exactly the point. Let's have a crash course in SPANDEX, shall we ladies??? ]

Depends on who you're asking. In my world, which isn't so different from this one, there were humans, aliens, superhumans, mutants.

[She listens closely.]

This is going to take some getting used to, and I'm not exactly crazy over being brought here without any sort of warning.

Welcome to the club. [ It isn’t as if she’s the first one to comment on that. ]

Surely some of the other ladies your age have started it up, but if not? Seems as if the two of you are experienced in that sort of thing.

[Yeah, Blake's just let Yang deal with the public relations side of things. That sounds like something she'd enjoy.]

So what. We're supposed to be heroes? Save the world, catch the bad guys and hope they'll never do it again?

Hoping for that is a touch too optimistic for most. [ But overall? Yes. That's it. ]

Happy endings aren't that easy to come by.

[Ignoring the bit about their lost friends, because really.] All the information about "what this place is like" is readily available if you feel like seeking it out yourselves rather than asking for it to be spoon-fed to you.

It's really more of a conversation-starter than anything. I mean really, what people choose to tell you about when you ask stuff like this can tell you a lot about them, don't you think?

[A grin.]

Besides, it's more fun this way!

I've never been the type to enjoy being spoonfed something I could get myself.

Though it is true that peoples' answers can often be quite informative regardless of what they say.

[Yang very, very briefly makes a rather unpleasant face.]

Man, talk about a tough crowd. Listen, lady, all we're doing is trying to make nice with anyone else stuck here. You don't have to like it, but you don't hafta ruin it for everyone.

[And then she shakes her hands as if moving the conversation forcefully along, nodding.]

But yeah exactly. We'll learn something one way or the other, right?

I don't believe in coddling anyone, no matter how young they are.

Besides, if you didn't want to give us any info, you didn't have to respond. But hey, at least now I know who most likely to ruin a party is.

There's nothing wrong with asking for a bit of help.

Besides, it's not like we weren't going to do some investigating on our own.

Do that first, then fill in the blanks. Never rely on someone to truthfully hand you the information you seek.

These are truths you should learn at your age before you come to rely on them.

We're asking about the city and world we're in, that's all. And we're not gullible enough to automatically believe what someone tells us.

Good. It would be very depressing if you were, but not entirely surprising given the populace at large.

What have you learned?

Some city names, and a bit of the world's history. There's going to be a lot to learn and cover. [And she wasn't even in History class right now.]

And what of it seems relevant to you, girl? Find diamonds of information in the dust of useless trivia.

[Blake remembers that Yang very clearly introduced both of them. And yet, she knows better than to try and bring it up.]
