[ Well this network post is a mess from start to finish. It opens on a blank ceiling, followed shortly by someone’s hands getting in the way of the camera. Clearly this belongs to someone who has gotten a crash course in how to use a phone but still doesn't really get the whole portable camera thing. For all that he’s clearly struggling with this damn piece of … whatever it’s made out of, he can’t help but look a little bit amused with himself. One thing he’s learned is to accept weird things as being possible even if they’re really weird. A blur of blond hair and blue eyes comes into view for a moment as he tries to line himself up where he thinks the camera is. ]
Look, this isn’t my first time waking up somewhere new and mildly terrifying. But last time I got a better welcoming party.
[ Focus, Steve. At least the swear-in helped him realize that there's basically no point to keeping most of his secrets, so he might as well introduce himself. And fess up to being super lost. ]
I'm Steve Trevor. And last I checked it was 1918, so - uh - this is all kind of overwhelming.
[ A beat. And just the slightest hint of longing. He knows it's a longshot, but he's got to ask. ]
Anyone know a gal named Diana Prince? Tall, muscular, Amazonian?

( Kara's teasing is mild, almost gentle as she regards him with a little grin. )
I'm sorry, I don't know anyone by that name. But given how this place works, she might be ported in.
I've been waiting to see if my family or friends might show up, too.
no subject
Yeah, okay, I guess it was a pretty good one. But I was thinking about the whole "show up in a weird room while people shove folders of information at you."
[ But the thought of Diana showing up is a cheering one. ]
Who're you missing the most?

Hi, Steve. I'm Laurel. [ A slight smile. ] I haven't heard of a woman by that name but that doesn't mean she isn't here.
I'll do my best to make it less overwhelming by answering whatever questions you're pretty much bound to have.

[ He nods his head gratefully. ]
Uh - well, for starters. The internet. I keep hearing about it but I can't figure out how to use it.

Afraid I haven't come across any Amazonians recently, but you look like you could use a drink, darling.
[ It's a round about way of extending an invitation. From an English person to an American. imPort to fellow imPort. You get the picture. ]

I could really use a drink right now. Got any suggestions?

I don't know any Diana Prince, but Alfie Solomons is from the '20s or something if you want some first world war commiseration, he loves other old men.
no subject
[ But he concedes the point that he did, in fact, attend a beach party. ]

He then changes tact, smiling.] Ah. No, I haven't seen her. But I am new, so keep asking around, she might turn up. Many people here have had friends, family or colleagues come here before or after them. There is always hope, Gospodin Trevor.

Han Solo, formerly captain of the Millennium Falcon. [Because he just can't resist.] Can't say her name's familiar, but I'll keep an eye out for her, if she ever shows up.

I'm pretty sure I haven't met her, though I've been here long enough that I could have met her a while back and completely forgotten about it. A lot of people come and go 'round these parts.
[ Beat. ]
Any relation to a Donna Troy, by any chance?

[ There are, of course, subtle hints outside of the obvious context. A faint rasp to his voice from encountering gas, his build, the scars... But not quite the normal pattern for a WWI soldier either. This man was a spy and a pilot primarily. ]

[He can relate to the culture shock of entering a different time period, at least.]
1918. You're lagging a bit behind. For the record, the future you're gonna find here ain't the same one you'd have found at home.
no subject
[ He doubts Diana will be subtle if she shows up anyway. ]
So how's it different? I keep getting different stories.
