how far has space travel advanced where you're from? and what's the environment for that kind of thing look like?

it seems weird, being in a world where there's not this constant, concentrated push. I think they've made it to the moon here, but nowhere else? which isn't wrong for the year, I guess, but... wow.

I mean, I'm from the future and I was totally abducted by an alien robot cat and now I live in a castle-ship that carts us across the universe fighting evil, but that's a whole other THING outside of where my world's at on the human side of things.

I was just wondering where everybody else is coming from. anybody else feel especially sci-fi around here?

no, I'm Hunk.

I'm part of a five person team that pilots alien robot lions that turn into a bigger badder robot to fight alien monsters and stuff. the blue lion was hidden on Earth and it took us into space when we found it.

being stuck on the ground here must be especially crazy if you're really used to the opposite, huh? at least I was pretty Earth-bound before my fateful space trip and it's not so bad.

"really used" is putting it lightly, before I got here I spent more time on my ship than planetside

Abduction by alien robot cats and living in a castle-ship flying across the universe falls under fiction.

we've just reached the edge of the solar system.

even still, the whole Voltron thing definitely would've been fiction to me, too. until it happened. then it's just like... boom. aliens.

yep. and the universes presented here... there's more than one version of those universes, too. and/or any universe here could ACTUALLY wind up as fiction somewhere else. I think that might be a thing.

somebody we never met had heard of us once, but I don't think it was really us.

I mean we've gotten more than one crack about being anime or a Saturday morning cartoon, but I think that might actually be a THING??? and I don't like thinking about it too hard.

I'm a time-travelling robot from the 25th century, sir, my life is sci-fi.

Though space travel goes beyond the moon in this era in my own world's history, it's often limited to certain special individuals. Regular space travel isn't something that happens much until later, even beyond my own century.

Time travel is almost distressingly common in my world. So much so that much of it has to be prevented in order to preserve the proper timeline.

What era are you from?

I'm from the near future, I guess. it's not far enough from here that I'd call it a different era.

we've only sent humans to the moon where i come from, too. and there's a probe on mars and a satellite that finally made it to pluto, but otherwise nothing

the real era tell-tale might be whether or not pluto's a planet. is pluto a planet?

it was a really dumb question to pose. it's a dwarf planet, but now that I'm thinking about it, I think that doesn't count for some reason.

Alien robot lions that turn into a bigger badder robot to fight alien monsters with? Are you sure you're from the future, and not an 80s Saturday morning cartoon?

I'm more or less from the present, minus everybody having hoverboards and flying cars, but between the Future Foundation, Hank Pym, Bruce Banner, Iron Man and the entire nation of Wakanda, plus everybody who's gotten their hands on alien tech, there are plenty of enclaves of sci-fi around.

[ Plus Peter himself was genetically modified by the bite of a radioactive spider, so, you know, there's that. ]

The official space programs are even wimpier than they are here, but half the people I know have gone to space anyway. The FF, the X-Men and the Avengers all do a lot of cosmic stuff. Stopping Kang from altering reality, stopping Thanos from killing all of reality, flirting with alien bird empresses, that kind of thing.

Oh, and we've got an entire subpopulation of people descended from early humans who were experimented on by aliens. Is that sci-if enough?
