[There's a whooshing noise before the video comes online, and it's immediately apparent why: Jacob is flying in the sky, crouched atop a new shield-shaped glider. He's telekinetically holding the communicator away from him using his biotic powers so everyone can get a look at his new gear: black-and-grey armour, with a translucent triangular visor over his face and a utility belt around his waist. He's above the rooftops of Maurtia Falls, judging by the presence of the Helix Station structure in the background.]

Check it out! The bad guys can run, but they can't glide.

[The view spins queasily for a moment as Jacob brings the communicator back to his hand, then there's a roaring sound as he brings the glider in for a landing. When the picture re-stabilizes, Jacob is standing on solid ground again- with the glider collapsed and stowed on his back.]

Pretty nice, huh? Take it from me: if you ever need new gear, Kanaya Maryam and her group do the best work around. Reasonable prices, too.

[He spreads his arms and does a little half-turn for a moment, showing off the costume's quality, then gets down to business.]

Anyway, I'm not just making this post to show off. My name's Jacob, and I work with RISE- that's Rogue ImPort Suppression Enforcement, if you want to get technical. We're funded by the government and based out of Maurtia Falls. Our job is to help protect people and enforce the law when it comes to special threats. If you're Registered, have a clean criminal record, and want to do some good, get in contact with me or Sabriel. We're always looking for new recruits.

I also want to give a heads-up to any investigators out there: keep your eyes open for anything about the Otherworld Technologies Organization, OTO. A bunch of us have been looking into them for a while. We think they were involved in a blackout and a breakout earlier this year. And word is there are scientists going around, paying local metahumans for experiments on their powers. If you learn anything about them, let me know.

[Jacob shrugs.]

[While what Jacob says sure is useful, Mika's more focused on the flying gadget that carries Jacob so gracefully around. That's useful. Dangerous in the wrong hands, but very useful.]

OTO? I'm not sure how much I could look into it. Others probably have access to more information depending on their jobs, but.

Right? Looks like I can say goodbye to foot patrols if I want to.

[Jacob grins. Flying is, indeed, so cool.]

It's okay, Yuu. We don't have that many leads right now, and we've been digging into this for months. It's not an easy case.

I'd never walk again! I mean, well, inside I guess I'd have to....

[Yuu rather is the type to get excited about things easily enough, at least. Initially, anyway. Mika would probably argue that could die off once the novelty wears thin, but regardless. It does nothing in dampening that initial enthusiasm. Especially for something like flying, given how long he lived underground.]

Ah. Right. I'll let you know if I hear anything, but I won't make any promises. I mean, I doubt my customers, the kids, would know anything on this.

Mmmm, not bad. But I think I might prefer what's underneath the armor.

[ Saying anything actually productive? Nah. Not Maeve's style. ]

[Jacob chuckles. It might not be productive, but he sure as hell doesn't mind it either.]

Sure, what's underneath might look better. Unfortunately, it's not as good at stopping a knife.

[ Teasing. ] Well, then. You must task Kanaya with her biggest challenge yet. Invisible armor.

[ And then she sobers up a bit. ]

I don't think I would wish to join this RISE of yours. Not my style. But if you do need anymore aid in investigating this group of yours, I've a way of being able to store data rather discreetly. And I can be quite good about persuading people to tell me things.

Why would you even say that out loud. It was, like, literally the worst pun I've ever heard in my entire life.

Were you trying to make the blackout and breakout people sound cooler or something? Because they already sound pretty cool.

[He pauses.]

Haha-! You look pretty cool, Jacob. Like someone out of a movie. Or a comic book.

[Jacob smiles.]

I guess that fits. In my world, that's where you'd find 'superheroes.' And that's what I am now, right?

Strange to think about. A few years ago, I would have told you I'm just another soldier.

[siriusly]

That kind of stuff sticks with you for life, though. So...you're still a soldier, but. You also fly around without a plane now, ha.

[beat.] So is it...Super-Jacob, now?

How long did it take them to make it for you?

Thanks, Nike. It just took them a few weeks. They already had most of the materials on hand, especially for the glider.

So that's the reason Kanaya has been quiet, huh? She's been busy designing and creating your outfit?

[She can definitely imagine Kanaya and Normie having the power to create some impressive stuff in record time.]

Yeah, I can tell they made everything with great care. I did wonder if they were open for business after making their announcement in the Majority Report. How did you talk business with them? Who's in charge in taking the orders?
