[ Upon the network is a familiar face, if you watch terrible national morning news. Mai has become somewhat of a meme fountain for her bored, disinterested delivery of the news. From sweeping technological advancements to grand tragedy, Mai is almost peculiarly removed from everything she reports.

Which is why her sly smile looks eerie but also alluring. The sheer rarity of the event should already look weird, to anyone who knows her or has seen her on TV at least. ]

So, I'm starting a girl band. Or I'm trying to. If you are musically talented and are interested in fame or a platform for your music beyond any wildest measure, let me know.

[ She quickly sighs and gets huffy before delivering the next part. ] And no boys, girl bands are just better. [ According to Woden, they have to be girls, but Mai isn't going to let that secret just slip out of the bag. ]

However, if you want to play as an opener or have any audio or visual programming skills, give me a call. I can pay handsomely.

I've been testing out the suit you gave me and making sure to get used to it before I start running off with it into combat. It works quite well. To uphold my end of the bargain, what are the goals I should be accomplishing for this first performance?

[ Yusuke should hear the cha-ching sound that's familiar with the app, followed by a notification that Mai sent him around twice the amount. She's grown up with a very exaggerated sense of wealth, so she doesn't even think of this amount as a lot. ]

[ People who throw their money around are the worst, Mai. The worst. But Yusuke is hungry, so... ]

I can't always tell if you're being sarcastic or genuine. Well, that's nothing new with you. [She's a deadpanned girl and he can respect that, but good grief.] How have things been?

I'm being genuine. It's hard to tell because this doesn't happen too often. [ At least she's blunt about understanding his misgivings. ]

They've been all right. At least, the lights are coming along fine. I'm not so sure about the music, but it'll be fine one way or another.

The staff has been preparing the necessary equipment promised as well. [It helps that they're already set-up to have musical performances. Most of the equipment is already available.] Have you worked out the advertising? I can put posters within the club about it.

I've been bringing it up in my broadcasts, but I just had fliers commissioned for the event.

[ She sends a private attachment. It's a little shocking, as it looks like the normally conservative, passionless Mai is wearing some sort of sexy black widow leotard with the red hourglass taking up the space from her shoulders to her hips. Where the hour glass narrows, the suit has been cut into because all pop stars need to dress in ridiculous outfits.

But perhaps what is more eye-catching is the kind of bulky yet sleek power suit that wraps around Mai's upper shoulder's and chest, the suit then reinforces just the backside before trailing off into some sort of skirt that wraps around her sides. Also, of note, are the jet propellers attached to her back that are just pouring out the exhaust.

Basically, she looks like a mechanical spider fairy except in a "sexy " Halloween outfit. To her side, of course, are the details, like the date, location, time, price, etc. but seeing such a bizarre representation of Mai is enough for one to forget that there are words in the English language that isn't just

No, my costuming team designed it. [ She replies with a very straight laced response, but if Jotaro is attuned to details, he'll notice that Mai is trying her damned best to keep a straight face, rather than the usual thoughtlessness her candor can provide. ]

So they're the ones who suggested the propellers?

[His eyesight is very perceptive thanks to his powers, so he goddamn sees her twitching.]

Yeah. They said it could carry for a lot of crossover potential, because it's both "cute" and "industrial". [ The two words are stated like they're almost synonyms. ]

And they're just for show. You're not seriously going to fly around the stage, are you?

Don't forget to mention the sick suits.

[ And then a switch to private.]

We want people to be...hooked.

And I don't mean addicted. We want them to feel something, which will come natural with the suit. They'll be hit on all sides with conflicting feelings, so it's best to just let it happen. We're going to inspire people this way.

I figured that should be a surprise. I'm preparing flyers with me and the suit on to post them around town.

[ Mai considers how she can accomplish this, because she usually doesn't feel anything. It's comforting to know that will come with the suit. ]

So we just confuse them into wanting more? Give them an experience so unique and different, they have to want more just because they want to know what happened.

Oh even better.

[ A pause, then. The helmet tipped. ]

That would be accurate. We want them to buy your albums, be invested in your works, but... as a whole, this will make them feel something more than they've ever felt before.

Yea. I have measurements of the club too, so I can try to get my launches just right.

[ but we need the audience to buy the album!!!!!!! ]

All right, so something catchy and kind of haunting but enchanting enough that they want more. Doesn't sound too hard.

It won't be. Not with the...suit infusing you with enough power to bring life to your song.

So you guys really just have to sing, and the suit will do plenty.

Yeah, there is. You might have to hold a guitar or something, but you can just pretend you're playing it. What kind of outfits do you like to wear? Costuming is important.

I'm told my style is eighties retro. [A little snort, because damn it, it wasn't retro six months ago! It was the in thing!] Won't someone notice if I'm pretending to play guitar?

Good. The uniforms have shoulder pads, usually, I think. [ So she'll fit right in!! ]

No, because we're going to overload them with lights and smoke machines and drinks and whatever else it takes to give them a good experience.

So blind them with flashy lights and smoke, and get them drunk enough so they don't notice if we stumble at any point. Pretty clever. [She can't help but be impressed by the misdirection at play here.] When are rehearsals?

They really shouldn't have. Especially in this world where it's so much more dangerous.

[ She nods. ]

That's the plan. That, combined with looking cute, and playing intense music, should get them to be overall confused with the experience, but desiring more. I'm open to when you want to rehearse, I just can't do early mornings.

There goes my plans of waking up the neighbors at seven in the morning, I guess. [She smiles, a little, to show that she's joking.] But I can do Saturday afternoons. How does that sound to you?

I plan on being awful and embarrassing everyone associated with this project, primarily myself, and then refusing to give out refunds to any of the confused and disappointed hundreds of people that attended.

Fantastic! I love a good shitshow. I'd be happy to anonymously hype this so that the crash and burn is even more dramatic?

Curious though, why only girls? 'They're just better' is a fairly flimsy excuse to throw a taco party.

I used to be part of an all girl battle [ Read: Quirky Miniboss because Mai has like less than a dozen on screen fights in the series and most of them are throwing knives from a location and/or not even fighting but just dipping because LOL effort. ] squad so it'll just feel more natural to me.

And, finally, I don't want any romantic love triangles just ruining my efforts. I'm done wasting my time on that. [ Even in an entirely different dimension, 4 months later, she can't get over that ex. ): ]

Speaking seriously though-- if romantic love triangles ruining your efforts are a concern, you might want to add another requirement into your 'girls only' club. I feel you're overlooking a very major thing here.

[ There's a bit of an awkward pause for Mai as she wonders how she's going to navigate this one. Being from a TVY7 show in the 2000s, homosexuality wasn't really a blatant thing yet but still... ]

Yeah, but anyone can defraud a screening process for that. It's a little harder to fake being a woman, especially if it's going to be continuous effort. [ She won't mention the uniforms because it has Woden's boner stench all over it, but damn she really wish she could rn. ]

Anyways, I'd have to find 3 girls who'd get involved in a love triangle first for me to worry about that.

[Being from a comic where literally everybody is at least a little gay, this is all Luci thinks about. ~~I'm so sorry.~~]

Harder to fake being a woman than fake being straight... Well. One is certainly more painful than the other, I'll give you that. [She doesn't specify which. If only Mai could mention it, but Luci already has her Massive Suspicions given his reminder about the suits. She arrived pretty recently, but Luci wasn't born yesterday.]

Oh come on now sweetheart, you can't tell me you've never looked at one of your friends and wondered what it might be like. Most women have those sorts of thoughts, trust me.

What kind of music would your band be into?

Something that sounds a little like everything you've heard of, so it sounds like nothing you've heard of at all. We're trying to go for some dancy and electronic based, but with live instruments too.

One of my powers is a gift to play the harpsichord. I'm guessing that wouldn't fit.

It could? Maybe I can find a way to combine it with a synthesizer, so you can use it to make more sounds. [ She's not going to remark snarkily on how niche of an instrument that is, she needs all the help she can get. ]
