Tell me of these holidays. Why are Men so fixated on them? I can understand the necessity for lifting spirits if that is indeed the reason for them. Living in these dreary cities has left me diminished.

If I were to take a..."vacation"...where would you suggest I go? I am fond of nature, unspoiled by the touch of Man.

There is the Feast of Starlight and others besides, but nothing that matches Halloween for example.

I'm not sure, it's not common where I am from and I'm not familiar with any of the holidays here.

Perhaps it's a way for natives of this planet to pass their time since they don't seem to have much else to occupy themselves with.

Halloween is great, you get to dress up as someone or something you're not and go party, forget about your reality for a while and live someone else's. Plus there's haunted houses and spooky decorations and great food and candy.

If you want unspoiled, I suggest the mountains. Parts of the Appalachians are great, and I haven't done much hiking the Rockies, but they're beautiful. If you play it right, you can spend your entire trip without encountering a single other person.

I have no need to forget reality. If I must relax after a long day, I have other methods than donning a costume. {Then again, he sort of dresses up every day of his life.} Are the houses truly haunted? The spirits must celebrate so many guests!

Mm those locations sound ideal. Would I be able to travel without burdensome machines and the like? I do not mind horses or moving on foot.

If you're looking for a vacation, you should definitely visit Costa Rica!
The forests are beautiful, and there's all kinds of birds and monkeys
the trees are enormous, too!
If you want to forget about city life, that's where I would go!

A little hard pressed for a place that hasn't been touched by man. However, if the geography is the same, you could head up north to Maine and go to Arcadia National Park.

It's a large forest that you can easily get lost in, but it's nice.

Holidays usually have multiple layers. Halloween, for example, is a combination of a winter harvest festival, a reason for children to dress up and play, and a commercialized time to produce particular foods.

And many work hard most of their days and see holidays as a particular time and place to step aside from that and play hard.

A celebration of death and harvesting? With the addition of children and sweets? It is disconcerting to put it kindly.

I can understand their mentality; it is only the subject matter that confuses me.
