So. What is the big deal about turning eighteen anyway? What do you do then? I mean. Sure. University or whatever, I'm looking into that. It's not all that different from being seventeen is it? I dunno on having some massive party or anything.

I could see how it might be a big deal back home, but. Not so much here, I guess.

I dunno if that would be better or worse than the orphanage.

It was bad. I used to climb over walls to escape.

Yeah. Our attempt to escape didn't go so well, when we tried to run from the vampires. Guessing you probably got caught too?

The first times I had to go back.

I did find somewhere else that I thought would be good. But I died there. I never had vampires though.

You died?

The vampires were -- they just took advantage of the situation years back with the virus killing off a lot of humans.

Yeah.

That sounds like a harsh world.

[dejerate]

Yeah. It was home though. All I knew. Before ending up here, I mean.

[am_i_a_monster]

All I knew was bad too. It still feels strange sometimes, getting used to everything we have here.

I know what you mean. Having this freedom, eating whatever, whenever, not worrying about fighting or vampires or humans or the war. Experiments. Well, I still do, but. That's back home. Not here, you know?

It's here too sometimes. Enjoy the freedom, but never let yourself feel too safe.

I don't. I know some might show up that we wouldn't want to see, from home. Or that things might get more tense here.
