[ Video ]

[ do you know how to cope with being murdered in some haunted house by some creepy omnious voice talking to you? You don't sleep and decide to drown in work. That's obviously what you should do. That's obviously what kaneki is doing.

When Kaneki comes to the screen he is wearing glasses and is surrounded by books and two computer screens, and he looks like he hasn't slept in years (because, let's be honest, he hasn't). He will get right to the point when the video feed starts, offering a small smile and a bow of his head ]

Hello. I wish to bring something to you today. Years ago, an imPort by the name of Kate Bishop started a FAQ, with the idea to give every imPort the information they needed about this world and their situation. It was a good idea, but once she was ported out, this FAQ became out of date and it hasn't been updated in years. I wish to bring it back and follow what Miss Bishop wanted to do. I already have her FAQ, which I'll be adapting and updating but given two years have passed since it was written, I think it's necessary to add what today's imPorts want to know and worry about.

That's why I'm making this post. If you have any question you want to see in this FAQ, go ahead and ask. I'll be adding them to the document. And of course, share the document once it's ready.

[he's an expert at not dealing]

And whoever ended up doing that would hopefully not be so interested in having leverage over imPorts while not actually dealing with them that they'd fill them all with nanomachines then kick them out.

[swirls a hand over his head to indicate the surrounding area]

As they have, into their country. We have the illusion of freedom but we can't leave, it's fine if we kill ourselves or each other because the option of death has also been taken away.

[Sort of smiles and looks off, hand folding under his chin. In the background his feet are folded up in the air and kicking idly like a highschool girl on her bed.]

Well, that is a very forgiving perspective on it, if rather negligent toward this country's actual citizens who don't have life saving technology thrust upon them, and are occasionally dying at the hands of immortal psychopaths in the name of 'being a good host'.

[He redirects his focus back to Kaneki, eyebrow slightly lifted, genuinely curious.]

Are you sympathetic because they're kinder than the government you're used to?

Oh? If that's true, about the nanites, that's quite interesting. The porter must enable them in some way, perhaps even is the one implementing them...? Though it would be odd to not blame her like they do for everything else, in that case. [His tone drifts off into brief musing.]

In either case, even a beast is allowed to die. I'm rather annoyed that my opinion wasn't asked. And while I agree that they could have certainly done worse, I see no reason to believe the nanites are for our benefit. Rather, we have been deemed valuable assets. Worth more alive than such an expensive technology.

[He rocks his head to lean on his other hand while the now free'd one flaps.] Perhaps for the sort of naive reasons you've mentioned; I'm not very familiar with the idea of heroes so that sort of perspective may be too much for me to understand. But however well intentioned, it's a leash on people they are hoping to be their good guard dogs, isn't it?

Well, maybe you can tell me about it, sometime. In any case, though I suspect Terrorist-san will always be a bit more optimistic than I am.

[laces his fingers under his chin, perking up a bit.]

In any case, as far as your original question, the nanites and how to navigate around them is what is most interesting to me, and the information provided by the US government on that subject was pretty limited.
