[It might not be all that strange for someone wearing a mask to appear on the network; it might be a little strange for a mask covering the entire top half of someone's face, including his eyes. Not that Kanan seems at all concerned by this fact - he looks pretty relaxed, his attitude almost flippant. ]

I gotta wonder about a world with the technology to bring people in from other galaxies, but where no one can even get off-planet. Does that seem a little backwards to anyone else? Or nah.

[ He waves it off. ] At least tell me there's a decent dojo around here.

[ A pause. ]

Oh, right. I'm Kanan Jarrus.

[ It's not exactly a secret. ]

A Sith, or - former Sith, I guess. Maul.

[ He doesn't know if she'll know that name, but there it is. ]

Hoth, huh. That one's a lot colder than Yavin.

Maul... [ She has to think back. To back in time through all her trips to the Emperor's Museum. ] The name is familiar but I can't say I've ever had the pleasure of meeting him.

[ She's mostly familiar with the Sith Darth Vader. What a bastard. ]

Oh it was definitely a cold one. At one point, we'd nearly lost Luke. But Han found him and brought him back.

Hopefully you never will.

[ He's pretty sure Maul finally died, at Obi-Wan's hands, if Ezra's information was accurate, and he trusts Ezra. Of course, that doesn't mean he won't show up here at some point, given how many dead people seem to be here. ]

Well, you probably shouldn't tell me any more about the future - but I'm glad at least that it sounds like the rebellion keeps going.

[articulations]

Considering the types of people we're receiving here, there's always the chance for him to show up as well.

[ If he does, oh boy oh boy. ]

[ He smiles a little. ]

Thrawn is going to be enough trouble. And I understand Count Dooku is here, as well. Among others.

[articulations]

You know what they say about hope and Rebels.

[ He won't see it but she smiles back. ]

Count Dooku is here, yes. There's also another, a man named Hux.

I've been warned about Hux. I'll be sure to avoid him.

[ Because that's about all he can do, here. Imperials and their ilk can't openly attack anyone, but by the same turn he can't just go around blowing up their stuff, either. ]

[articulations]

It would be in your best interest to. The man has a habit of weaseling his way under the skin with his knowledge of the future.

[ She'd have thrown more than just coffee in his face if she could've. ]

Sounds like a real charmer.

[ Though Kanan somehow doubts that many of his deeds will be remembered in the distant future. He's kind of taken pains to make sure they don't. Hera is already more well-known even within the rebellion. ]

[articulations]

No, that was Tarkin. Hux is different. Vile. Oh what am I saying, all Imperials are vile.

[kanyounot]

They are. Though Tarkin's really in a class of his own. I can't imagine he attends a lot of interrogations, but I guess when the prisoner was using a lightsaber he makes an exception.

[articulations]

Tarkin is the type of man to stand back and smirk while everyone else does the work for him. He only knows how to give an order, nothing else.

[kanyounot]

[ He laughs a little, though it's not really a humorous sort of laugh. It's hard for even him to joke about the times the Empire has interrogated him. ]

Yeah, that's about what I remember of him. Standing there, watching. He doesn't get his hands dirty.

[articulations]

That was Vader's job.

[ Kanan startles a little. ]

You've met Vader?

[articulations]

[ Her expression hardens. ]

He personally oversaw my torture during my interrogation for any information regarding the Rebellion. Sometime after that, he was there with me aboard the bridge of the Death Star while Tarkin gave the order to have Alderaan destroyed.

[kanyounot]

[ What the what. ]

...Death Star?

[articulations]

[ Oh, he seems pretty darn taken aback. ]

I'm sorry, that must have come out of nowhere.

[kanyounot]

[ Yeah, uh, Kanan is still trying to take all that in. Tortured... Death Star... Alderaan?????

Wait wait wait. So, they're going to find out what Bail is up to? Oh no. ]

[articulations]

That's one way of putting it.

[ Kanan takes a breath, thinking it through. The sheer, cruel audacity of it... he honestly wouldn't have thought even the Emperor would do such a thing, even if he could. But apparently, he can, and he will.

Another breath. The thought is hideous, so many lives, snuffed out in a moment. But there's nothing he can do, here and now. He'll try to find a way to bring it up to Hera, maybe if they put their heads together they can think of something, but nothing they'd be able to do until or unless they get home. So he takes another breath. He looks - well, sorrowful. ]

Sorry is inadequate, Your Highness, but it's all I have, I'm afraid.

[articulations]

Sorry won't lessen the pain left behind from the loss of my people, the loss of my parents, but I appreciate it nonetheless, Kanan. We can only move forward and hope we don't run into any other Imperials while we're here.

[ Which is, let's face it, impossible. ]

[kanyounot]

No, I'm afraid nothing can heal a wound like that.

[ He's still got a few of his own and what happened to Leia is simply beyond his comprehension. ]

But you're right. We both know as long as even one person is alive to fight the Empire, the rebellion will continue.

[articulations]

There will always be hope for the rebellion.
