I got a question for people that... know more about powers.

[Blue frowns, chin in hand. There's a new Pokemon sitting on the counter next to him, small and fox-like, grooming its paw. It glances up at the feed with a curious “vui”?]

When I look at people, something pops up in my head. Some other people told me it's like... 'scanning'. I don't know what to call it or what it means, but when it happens, it makes me see people as Pokemon types. Like how Arcanine is a Fire-type. Or Eevee here is a Normal-type. [He gestures to the little creature beside him.] But people don't have types, back home.

I mean, of course this place is nuts, so weird stuff happens. But how do I figure out what these 'powers' I got are supposed to do? How do I know what it means?? I've been here this long and I still have no idea.

--Oh yeah, speaking of Arcanine, here. Check this out!

[At the end of the post there's an additional link with an embedded video. The video shows a big pile of leaves- for a few seconds, nothing happens, but soon there's a pattering of.. is that hooves? Nope, the big blur of furry orange that is Arcanine slams right into the pile, sending it scattering. Look at him romp through the leaves! What a big, happy dog.]

I can see the increased electrical activity in someone's brain. From there, the implants translate that into what powers those are. I'm guessing it's the same for you, but it could be different. And if it is anything like mine, it's not so much a psychic thing--going around, digging in people's heads to get what you want--so much as being able to see something that others can't.

...I guess I am. I've heard what kinds of stuff happens where other people come from. Our world just... It's not like that. It's not like this.

[Sure, they have nutsos trying to summon angry gods to destroy the world every few years or whatever, but someone always stops 'em!]

[Blue cringes at that description. He really doesn't like the idea of what his power can do being so invasive when he doesn't even mean to do it, that he's digging into people's heads. Sure, Psychics existed in his world, but people didn't fear them, really, not like people feared imPorts here.] ...I think... Maybe it's just what I wanna think, but I like the second description better.

I don't really know much about human biology, but does that mean if I look into that kind of thing, I might figure out how my powers work?

[Really, it isn't anything he harps on. M only brought it up so Blue didn't get any weird ideas of where his powers might have come from.]

If it's bothering you that much, I could just take a look at you in person. In exchange you tell me what my type is.

It just sounds kind of... [His mouth twists] I don't wanna make people do anything. If that's how my power is working then I'd really rather not have it.

[Blue pauses to consider for a moment, then nods.]

Okay. All you have to do is look at someone, too, right?

[M opens his mouth to say "Either way you don't exactly have a choice", but realizes that while he's a jerk that's a smidge over the line, so he rather tactfully decides to ignore that part in favor of something a little more comforting.]

That's right. I can't go into someone's head, I just see it from a distance.

[It's okay, M, he probably deserves it- jerk to jerk.]

[But he does seem to ease a little.] Well... where should I expect to see you? You go to parties or anything?

I've got a Door that can take me anywhere, so we can meet wherever you'd like.

[And he's not much of party goer.]

[He thinks about this for a moment.] Like one of those teleporters? Well, whatever. It's probably weird if you show up at my house, but...

You drink?

[Of course a bar, where else]

[And wow, way to jump to conclusions. He's not a creep.

He smirks.]

I can drink anyone under the table.

[Okay, all other creepness aside...]

[That sounded like a challenge.]

Oh, really? [Blue grins wide, leaning in] I'm happy to take up a brag like that! You got a favorite spot? I got plenty. Let's see about that.
