I got a question for people that... know more about powers.

[Blue frowns, chin in hand. There's a new Pokemon sitting on the counter next to him, small and fox-like, grooming its paw. It glances up at the feed with a curious “vui”?]

When I look at people, something pops up in my head. Some other people told me it's like... 'scanning'. I don't know what to call it or what it means, but when it happens, it makes me see people as Pokemon types. Like how Arcanine is a Fire-type. Or Eevee here is a Normal-type. [He gestures to the little creature beside him.] But people don't have types, back home.

I mean, of course this place is nuts, so weird stuff happens. But how do I figure out what these 'powers' I got are supposed to do? How do I know what it means?? I've been here this long and I still have no idea.

--Oh yeah, speaking of Arcanine, here. Check this out!

[At the end of the post there's an additional link with an embedded video. The video shows a big pile of leaves- for a few seconds, nothing happens, but soon there's a pattering of.. is that hooves? Nope, the big blur of furry orange that is Arcanine slams right into the pile, sending it scattering. Look at him romp through the leaves! What a big, happy dog.]

...Hah? [Blue and Eevee both turn and give the camera the same raised-eyebrow expression at the same time. It's sort of creepy. It's sort of like Red and Pikachu.]

Since always. You didn't meet him yet? This's my first Pokemon, Eevee. Say hi, boy.

[Eevee turns to give his trainer a cocked-head look, then back at the feed with a little wave of his paw.] Vui, vui!

Maybe it has something to do with their Import powers? Does it work over the network?

You mean like... to figure out what their powers are? [He pauses thoughtfully. Well, for the people he knew directly, anyway...] Maybe. Cuz the people I know, their types do sorta match their powers.

And you know what, it doesn't. [He says, as if realizing this for the first time.] Anytime I watch like, a video, it doesn't work. And... it doesn't work when I look at myself on a mirror, either.

Too bad. Otherwise you could do a network post asking people their powers to try and come up with some kind of pattern. Still, I guess it gives you a vague idea of what people's powers might be. Sort of.

Is it symbolic, perhaps? I can't imagine why else categorizing imPorts by your world's terms would be useful.

I don't know. I got a cloud that hovers over me and rains on me. It won't go away unless I tell it its a good boy. I don't know how or why these blasted powers work.

Mm... not really. [He scratches his head] Someone pointed out it might have to do with powers- which would make sense, that's how it... sort of works with Pokemon.

But I don't know many other people's powers enough to say if that's it or not. It seems to match some people I know.

Maybe it has something to do with their abilities? Affinities for certain elements or something...

That's how my scanning would work back home, on top of giving me power/life-force readings. I haven't tried it out too much here though...

If it works like my implants, then it's giving you an idea of what abilities that person's got... except in less helpful "pokemon" types.

Isn’t he!? [Blue grins proudly.] He’s called an Arcanine. A Fire-type Pokemon from my home region, Kanto. You could meet him some time, if you want. He’s real friendly.

[Is he... flirting? He might be? It’s hard to tell.]

[The little vulpine creature that’s been chilling next to him this whole time, upon hearing Blue’s gushing, pins its ears back and stands up, headbutting him in the arm.] Vui!

Ow!! [Blue rubs his arm and frowns down at it.] Jeez, I know, you’re super great too! [But it’s too late. Eevee is pouting.]

Hunh... scanning powers, hunh? That's pretty handy if you ever get into a fight; then you'd know what the other person's weakness is.

[ Like how if someone had any wind skills, they would have Adachi flat on his ass with very little effort. ]

I thought about that a little bit. And the way Types work back home seems to hold true for a lot of things here. [Thanks for freezing his bird, Goemon] Obvious things like Water beating Fire. But I wonder if they're all still true... Most people here don't seem familiar with 'Types' at all.

[His momentarily serious thoughtfulness melts away, and he cracks a prideful grin.] Isn't he!? Arcanine's the best dog Pokémon, I think. [...He's just a big ol' kid, after all.]
