[The secret is out. Anakin has spoken of his distaste for the job given him upon arrival. He didn't even do it properly once. You are forgiven for wondering what the heck he does with his days (and for money) besides. Now you will know.

He slides into view, smiling (in an all too familiar way for those who know him) at the camera.]

They don't build these things right. I've made enough modifications on this car to really get it moving.

[A door slams shut, an ignition is ignited and the camera's view shifts to look out the windshield.]

Oh...and don't worry. I'm getting paid plenty for this.

[Yeah, that is clearly the worry when he he pulls recklessly out onto the street, shifting far too damn smoothly from lane to lane. Recklessness should never look practiced, but it does for him. The engine revs, roaring admirably as Anakin expends some of his frustration in...speed.

It has always worked. This is natural for him. Normal. He can breathe.

I'd be careful. Humans like to write 'tickets' if they see you driving too fast, and those 'tickets' indicate that you have to give money to law enforcement if you want to continue to be able to legally drive.

[Well. He'd suspected his grandfather would have been amazing to hang out with as a young man, but having the proof was something else. Not just because that looked like fun, but because it seemed like he might have been able to learn some slightly more effective and definitely less nefarious coping mechanisms from him, if he'd been around.]

It definitely looks more interesting than poetry.

[There wasn't much to do on Tatooine. Podracing was the big hit and once Anakin had a taste of the speed and power, he hadn't wanted to ever give it up. He hasn't changed in that regard and he wishes he could put down the hood of this car...or get rid of it entirely. But the speed demon doesn't belong to him.]

[Excuse her as she stares. Actually, you can't see her staring, because she was watching this video feed in astonishment. Anakin? She had... heard about timelines and things but...]

[She hadn't expected THIS. She kicked a voice changing program on, taking her voice a bit lower as she at last spoke.]

The technology doesn't seem to be up to pod racing specs, but sounds like it has a good roar to it.

[Anakin nearly has an accident when he hears her voice. He jerks the car into a parking lot and brings it to a halt. Then he grabs his communicator and...

Words might be failing him.] ...Snips?

[She winced at the view of his sudden moving and coming to a stop. Then the communicator goes to voice. She put her hand over the device and held her breath a moment.]

[Snips. How long had it been since anyone called her that?]

[The muffled sound of her hand over the device could be picked up, and she was two seconds away from hanging up...]

[No idea what to say, so she's silent for the moment, other then the sound of her trying to cover the receiver.]

[ She looks amused, mostly, only the mildest hint of exasperation. It's been a long time since she first realized there would never be a way to keep Anakin from his recklessness when it came to driving -- well, anything. ]

Drivers here likely aren't as used to your actions behind a wheel as Coruscant pilots are. Try to be a little careful?

[She understands him. Anakin knows what he's doing - even when his actions seem downright suicidal. The Force guides him through, letting him see what lies ahead of him.]

[Remember that cockney accent, Anakin? It's none other than your least favorite pirate grinning into the video with such amusement. Jack is highly interested in those odd looking automobiles but he doesn't know how to operate one yet. He's a little jealous that he doesn't have his own car yet.

You're a mechanic of some sort, hm? How did you modify that contraption? [A pause.] Hell, how does it even work?

I see it has a proper steering wheel, small but proper.

[He lets out an explosive laugh. Ha!] She'd see right through you, pirate. [Jack, you're funny. His hackles are raised while in your presence, but he doesn't hate you. Per se. Yet? It's hard to tell with Mr. Going Nova At The Drop Of A Hat.]

I am a mechanic, but I can fix just about anything. [Anakin lifts up some tools.] I used these and I taught myself mostly. It's an engine - less complicated than the ones used on a spaceship - and it runs on gas and oil.
