Dear ImPorts,
To Whom It May Concern:

Regarding the events that lead to the Porter acting up, we would like to issue an apology for our parts in it. We'd like to say that we never meant this to happen and we're truly sorry for the pains, aches and losses that have been occurring as a result.

We simply attempted communicating with the entity, Lachesis, that was believed to reside inside the Porter. The military and the scientists, who have been studying the Porter, gave us access to it and we did manage to gleam off some unexpected information in the process. There was no hostility expressed on our parts, we approached it with respect, carefully. However, as has been evident, the results were less than desirable. We're not trying to shy away from responsibility but to note that foreseeing this would have been impossible.

Therefore we'd like to warn anyone who is thinking of contacting the Porter in the future to not do it. There is no telling what might happen.

Because we knew nothing about the Porter, and after four years without any answers, we believed it was time to get some.
The price for the information gathered was rather cruel, however.

It seemed like a good exchange, possibly some knowledge for simply talking to the Porter. Obviously we were wrong.

People are being Ported in and out, even though it's not a new wave of imPorts like always.

I believe it'll eventually return to normal. [ that's a bit of wishful thinking, actually ]

I personally don't think there's anything actually wrong with it. It might be wishful thinking, but I think it will even out. Of course I might be wrong. We didn't see this outcome at all, after all.

I'm pretty sure it would have been worse.

Yes, it was the first time. The consequences were far too great. But even if we don't worry about that, the information we got tells us the Porter does not contain Lachesis anyway - just her "child". He will continue to do as he was built to do and only Lachesis can control him.

Contacting Lachesis could also lead to the destruction of this universe, considering she re-shaped it. Plus if she is found, other problems could arise, such as Vulcanus or Atropos.

To add to Ken's list of reasons: also because I doubt the government will let us close to it again without forcing our way to it, and given it's precarious state you probably don't want to chance a rushed job with it.

Of course us saying don't do it is hypocritical to some extent. We went there after all. But I'd hope we can learn from our mistakes at least.

We wanted answers and believed our plan would appease Lachesis enough that she would not attack us.

I wonder how many of you guys have decided to "discover" what we've known forever, not to interface with the damn Porter, for the "first" time. I'm going to guess this is something like the 8th go, but hey, maybe I'm way off.

Before us, only two people were ever able to interact with the Porter, though they were very new imPorts were Ported out in about two months after their arrival. We never got to learn if what they said was true, until now.

Unfortunately I haven't seen much of evidence for all those times that someone has tried this. Perhaps you should speak out to those who have come here after you. It might be helpful for those who come after us as well and think that it's the only way to gain some answers.

i'm surprised he even talked to you tho. i mean you'd think he'd just tell you to buzz off if he was going to wreck everything ANYWAY. but then again... the notes say that the porter is like lachesis' kid right??? maybe it's an overprotective mom thing. you know, like how some parents freak out if their kids talk to "the wrong crowd" or smth

I'm sorry. It was our fault, yes.

And there is a possibility, but Lachesis is dormant, I don't think she'd wake up just to punish us. It could be a Porter fail-safe however; if anyone contacts it, it might trigger a self-defense mechanism Lachesis put there.

Yes, and we're very sorry because of it.

As Ken said, perhaps it is a fail-safe. It doesn't seem far fetched to think that Lachesis would be protective over the Porter. Or the other way around. It seems to have some emotional capacities.

Gods are known for enjoying sacrifices, specially ones from the Greek mythology. But I'll be honest, I followed what someone else had done before, I just did in a much bigger scale.

Unfortunately shit happens. This time because of us. And the responsibility for it also is ours to take.

There were some earlier attempts that I feel inspired Ken to do that. We do not know if it made any difference unfortunately. It's hard to say one way or another. Definitely I wouldn't recommend trying the same again.
