[Doc sits in a room stockpiled with inventions. Crafted clocks, blenders, and a single hoverboard hovering at the side of the frame. It's a bit of a mess, but he's been busy. His smile's lopsided but just slightly cautious.]

I once thought I was too old to have a midlife crisis. How foolish I was! Though in hindsight, my entire scientific career of the past thirty years was one long shining example.

I have one powerful light in my life to guide me, but little else---only distant memories. I'm a little late to make a new year's resolution, but here it is: to take the risk of reaching out to the community again. I used fear and doubt as excuses to live in isolation for most of my life, and the moment my new life here hit a few snags I slipped back into that old pattern. Predictable, but disappointing.

So...hello again. I'm Emmett Brown, one of your many neighborhood mechanics...and for the thrill seekers among you, I've just restocked the hoverboards.

And I'm also seeking a brave dog-sitter, if anyone is interested. You'll be compensated well for your time, of course.

[He closes by pointing the camera over to the dogs in question---two white Samoyeds, all smiles, looking proud that they haven't made a mess today.]

Yes, of course! I'm quite proud of how the lunar base project turned out, so that's a start. Even if my contribution was minor.

Have you been up there?

Yes, to assist with the installation of my recycling furnace. It's beautiful up there. Breathtaking. But I haven't seen the finished base.

Hm- I admit I'm curious. I mean, space sounds a bit dangerous after everything that has happened in December, but-

who isn't curious about space?

My partner. He says it's too dangerous, and I gather he's not alone.

[Gentle laugh. Oh, Doc's working on it.]

But everything was well built. I'm confident we'll be safe.

[ghoulking]

I understand why. After what happened in the Big Brother event, I think it's natural to be wary of it.

[ he hums ] I'm certain. ImPorts really can make things happen when they join their strengths.

Yes, I heard bits and pieces of that story. But I know this project was carefully planned.

Even if I'm working on backup plans for the inevitable disaster.

[ghoulking]

Backup plans? of what sort?

[4thdimensional]

Always being aware of the quickest path to the Porter, relying on my friends' more useful superpowers...things of that nature.

My electricity powers may function in a fight, but they won't save any oxygen.

[ghoulking]

I don't think most powers could help us in space, truthfully. [ probably ] Let's hope I'm wrong, but-

[ if something blows up there, they are kind of doomed ]

There's bound to be someone who can help. Reversing time, repairing glass, generating a bubble...even I can do that in a limited capacity, but I've never tested its ability to contain oxygen.

[ghoulking]

The thing is, I don't think most of us have tried their powers in vacuum and in space, so we don't know how good we can be up there.

[4thdimensional]

It's the perfect time to test them---provided, of course, there's a way to do so safely. I'll have to think on it.

UHm- I admit I'm not eager to try that out.

Me neither, to be honest. It's an unnecessary risk, to be sure. And such dangers are unlikely to become that dire.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.
