I once thought I was too old to have a midlife crisis. How foolish I was! Though in hindsight, my entire scientific career of the past thirty years was one long shining example.

I have one powerful light in my life to guide me, but little else---only distant memories. I'm a little late to make a new year's resolution, but here it is: to take the risk of reaching out to the community again. I used fear and doubt as excuses to live in isolation for most of my life, and the moment my new life here hit a few snags I slipped back into that old pattern. Predictable, but disappointing.

So...hello again. I'm Emmett Brown, one of your many neighborhood mechanics...and for the thrill seekers among you, I've just restocked the hoverboards.

And I'm also seeking a brave dog-sitter, if anyone is interested. You'll be compensated well for your time, of course.

[He closes by pointing the camera over to the dogs in question---two white Samoyeds, all smiles, looking proud that they haven't made a mess today.]

It's been a while---and yes, I see exactly what you mean. We have pressures, roles to uphold.

I'd like that. My schedule's fairly open these days with the exception of standard school hours.

Where is it you are currently living?

Renting a house on the outskirts of Heropa. I needed space for them to roam and a pool.

Heropa. I have not been there in some time. Perhaps I can meet you there. Do you have any favorite places?

There's a small restaurant on Central across from the park. I sometimes bring my dogs and take an outdoor table---but I've found a sitter now, so that won't be a concern.

Well, certainly if you wished to bring them along -- I would not mind meeting them. They can meet some of my birds.

[ A beat. ]

Unless they eat birds.

They won't. They're quite well trained---and I'd bring their preferred treats, of course.

And you needn't worry about any apprehension on their part. Samoyeds are very friendly---sometimes, a little too friendly.

Most often, the dogs people own back in Westeros are used for hunting. So I will admit, I do not have much experience being around some of the more domestic breeds. But I do hear they can make wonderful companions. Very dedicated and loyal.

I've cared for them all through my life---it helped me considerably to have a loyal friend when no human would give me the time of day. This is, however, the first time I've owned two at once.

Despite that, I assure you they'll be no trouble.

It surprises me to hear a man of your intelligence would not have many friends within your field of expertise. Of course, I do realize sometimes we allow our work to become our lives and do not realize it has left us with a void in other areas. Still, I am glad you were able to find companionship in your animals.

I intentionally created distance to afford myself privacy at first. It simply snowballed from there.

Out of curiosity, did you ever believe an alternate world such as this one was a possibility?

Yes, absolutely. I've studied time travel theory for quite a while and it all seems to be related.

I always find it interesting to hear the perspective of a scientific mind.

So since this world is a possibility, do you believe there are other worlds we could potentially travel to? Some of the worlds our fellow imPorts have come from, for example?

Absolutely, and the Porter may not be the only way through. Theoretically, we could construct one of our own---hopefully, one that's not quite as unstable as ours.

Would you have any ideas about how to build such a thing? Or what materials it may require?
