[ Happy Monday, Network! Today, you are greeted with a contingent of Ambassadors, a Mayor, and a Senator. They're comfortably sitting together around the table, but the transmission comes from the Senator's comm, which has been well-pointed down at the group of them. ]

Good afternoon, network. [ Mitchell waves at the camera. ] For those of you who I haven't introduced myself to, I'm Senator Mitchell Hundred. To my left is Mayor Petyr Baelish, and right are the ambassadors Sam Merlotte and Miles Vorkosigan. First off, before we get too deep into the weeds, I want to offer our collective congratulations to Padmé Amidala for her recent election as the Maurtia Falls Ambassador. We all look forward to working with you in the future, and inviting you to work with the rest of us.

[ A pause. ]

But that's not the only thing to address, I'm afraid. We were, as a group, given certain information, and we want to make sure that everyone is given the same information, so we can, as a community, move forward. [ He tapped a finger on his table. ]

Recently, at the end of last month, the US Government encountered an Unidentified Flying Object -- while we are not sure of the origins, we do know that it isn't...of an interstellar origin. It's from this planet, but nobody has claimed it yet. We know that it does have short and long-range missiles, and could be used as a weapon from outside of our atmosphere. As we are uncertain as to the origin of where this came from, we do know that the chips appear to have been constructed by a private entity with ties to certain R&D companies in South Korea.

At this time, the US government is currently in negotiations with Seoul, but we may need to take action.

[ A lengthier pause, when the Senator looked between the four of them. ]

I know that...sometimes there is a bit of a strained relationship with the government, but this information was provided iwth the intent of spreading it to the rest of you. The government doesn't require us to fight for them, but the time may come when they will ask us to. When that time comes, I hope that there will be some of us willing to help out -- if not for the government, then maybe for all the innocent people that might get caught in the crossfire.

[ A pause, and then: ] And if you have questions, please feel free to ask. I know we're all going to be here for a while to discuss this with you.

Surely if the Korean government was also surprised by this, they should be the ones handling their private entity.

Ties to a private entity in South Korea doesn't mean it's a South Korean company. We don't know where they're from.

They're working with our government to make this work, because we're allies.

My first reaction is "this is why we can't have nice things". My second is are you trying to rally troops for a war or statespeople for diplomacy, because you seem to be hitting both topics here and they're both drastically different approaches.

This isn't an endorsement of either action, it's just presenting facts, and encouraging people to think about the possibility. If something gets out of hand, it's better to know it's coming and prepare, rather than just wait to get fucked sideways.

I would say it is simply to prepare us for conflict -- however best we individually deal with conflict. Some of us do opt for diplomacy, others are more capable with force. Ultimately before anyone needs to fight, I imagine there will be more investigations into this.

And perhaps that is why the government wished for us to share this information -- knowing how adept some of our numbers are at investigation and discovery.

The object that was referenced was already destroyed by an imPort team. So it no longer poses a threat to us, fortunately. The fact that it existed does signify some mounting tensions, however. And with that lends to the probability they will likely strike again.

You said this private entity has ties to South Korea, but is that to mean it isn't necessarily located there? Could it be stolen technology or does it appear authentic?

For the record, there's no way in hell I'd ever fight a battle for this government, but are we certain of just who that thing was intended to target?

Although, if you're not interested in assisting the people of this nation, then I don't know what place you would have in all of this. We generally don't just let people who have no vested interest sign on for this kind of thing.
