It’s funny how time works here, isn’t it... Even disregarding what happened with the missile launch.

[Quatre’s sitting on a beach outside Heropa-- one of the meteor-viewing party spots-- as the sun sets; his eyes keep drifting away from the camera to watch the light off the water.]

For example, my birthday was a few days ago, by this world’s calendar. Back in my world, it was December, but I arrived here in March. I want to say that it’s hard to believe it’s been a year... but it hasn’t been, not really. Ten months, give or take. In the end, I suppose it’s the date that’s more important than how much time has passed, especially when no one else in this world would know that it matters.

[After a second, he visibly catches himself, smiling apologetically at the camera.] I'm sorry, that’s pretty dramatic for a birthday, isn’t it? I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s had to deal with this, for birthdays or holidays or important dates back home. I’d like to know what people normally do, or if it’s not something that’s worth worrying about.

...Well, in either case, it's been a year or ten months since I first came to Earth. I was mostly in Europe and Asia before, so I’d like to see more of this country while I can. If anyone has any recommendations for places to visit, I’d love to hear them. [His eyes are wandering off to the horizon again.] It really is beautiful here.

I don't think it's that dramatic myself. I made sure to celebrate my birthday here when it passed, but that's also because time works funny back home and I hadn't actually aged in a while.

Yeah. I don't know how or why it happened, but... well, I grew to age 13. My siblings grew up with me, too- I'm the oldest and I remember both of them being born and growing older- and at some point everyone in my world just stopped. We'd have holidays and stuff every year but we never aged, and we never noticed it was odd. I didn't think it was weird til I came here and someone mentioned it, in fact...

That's so... [He can only conceive of it, just barely, because of what happened last month with the missile.] ...Did you ever find out why? Was there something supernatural happening in your home world?

...I don't mean to pry, it's just so different from anything else that I've heard.

I always like to celebrate my birthday or my friend's birthday, even if we're not in our own world. Christmas is also something that I enjoy celebrating.

Seattle is a nice place. I went there almost two months ago and had a great time.

It's a nice excuse to think about friends, isn't it? [He glances back to the camera, smiling sincerely.] Do you have any here? I spent a bit of time near San Francisco with some friends, but I've never been to Seattle.

There are a couple of friends from my own world here, but I'm happy to say that I've also made some new one in this place. [She returns the smile.] San Francisco is definitely a city I'd love to visit. Did you like it?

Truthfully, things didn't go very well in San Francisco, but it wasn't because of the location. I'd like to visit again in better circumstances. Maybe I should consider this a chance to make up for it. [He smiles again, as if that's the end of that train of thought, and matter of factly moves on to the next.] Have you been here long?

Nah, I think at this point, birthdays are weirder if they're not some big dramatic mess.

I haven't seen much of this America, but there's something to be said for Los Angeles - oh, and New York, if you haven't been up there yet.

It's funny how quickly you can get used to using the porter to go between cities, isn't it? It makes other locations seem that much further away.

You could try to visit North America while you are here, I've heard there are beautiful places just around us and very easy to get there.

It's lovely here. It's all very different from where I grew up. I likely won't have a chance to see the sights when I return home, even the ones that exist in my world, so I'd like to take advantage while I can.
