It’s funny how time works here, isn’t it... Even disregarding what happened with the missile launch.

[Quatre’s sitting on a beach outside Heropa-- one of the meteor-viewing party spots-- as the sun sets; his eyes keep drifting away from the camera to watch the light off the water.]

For example, my birthday was a few days ago, by this world’s calendar. Back in my world, it was December, but I arrived here in March. I want to say that it’s hard to believe it’s been a year... but it hasn’t been, not really. Ten months, give or take. In the end, I suppose it’s the date that’s more important than how much time has passed, especially when no one else in this world would know that it matters.

[After a second, he visibly catches himself, smiling apologetically at the camera.] I'm sorry, that’s pretty dramatic for a birthday, isn’t it? I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s had to deal with this, for birthdays or holidays or important dates back home. I’d like to know what people normally do, or if it’s not something that’s worth worrying about.

...Well, in either case, it's been a year or ten months since I first came to Earth. I was mostly in Europe and Asia before, so I’d like to see more of this country while I can. If anyone has any recommendations for places to visit, I’d love to hear them. [His eyes are wandering off to the horizon again.] It really is beautiful here.

You're very kind. It's no worse than many people have it. At least the planet is the same. There are some people who don't even have that. [But... still. We haven't achieved such technology. I'm from Japan, which is here and I admit I'm glad for.

Maybe. I'd rather focus on what we can do in this world, instead of mooning over mine when there's nothing we can do to change it.

[It's just a bad day for it.]

Ah, I've never been to Japan, but it still exists in my time as well. Have you spent much time outside it, or is this new scenery for you too?

[ His determination is admirable. Haru can't help but smile. ]

I've been to Hawaii before, but that was for a school trip I was chaperoning. I didn't do much sightseeing then.

Well, maybe this could be a good opportunity. Not that we're very close to Hawaii, but there's still a lot of beautiful places to see on this side of this country.

What would be your first recommendation?

There's a national park within a few hours of De Chima! It's definitely worth a visit. I think that's the closest to a porter, so the others will require a little more planning. There's also some lovely valleys in Pennsylvania if you're interested in farmland.

[girlybruiser]

Farmlands?

[ That certainly piques her interest. ]

That sounds like an excellent place to visit.

[He smiles, a little relieved when she doesn't immediately dismiss it out of hand.] I'm glad you think so! It's more exciting for me than it would be for most people, I'd imagine. But the people there are very kind, and I thought it was beautiful.

[girlybruiser]

I've never been to farmlands before, but I would be very interested in seeing what kind of fauna and other things grow there. I'm wondering how different the climate is here compared to Japan and how it affects the plants and vegetables grown.

Well, it's a first time for everything here, isn't it? You'll have to be the expert on how it compares to Japan, though. The closest I've been was Singapore.

[girlybruiser]

Oh! How was Singapore?

Humid. More than Florida, I'd say... It was very different from what I was used to, so I enjoyed it.

[girlybruiser]

Have you done much traveling then? I would love to do so... all the adventures that await, but one thing at a time, I suppose.

[fource]

No, only just in the past year. [Then again, he's not sure if that could properly be called 'traveling...' It doesn't occur to him that a year of travel is still a lot.] Though I did manage to see a few different areas of the planet in that time. This may be a wonderful chance to get some adventures in, you know. No obligations from back home to worry about.

[girlybruiser]

Of course. There's so much to get in order first... but eventually!
