I've missed the stars. [But they are hardly the destination.] Mars is the red planet, isn't it? The atmosphere is mostly carbon dioxide with a mixture of nitrogen and argon - as well as other trace gasses. This sun's radiation is what makes it uninhabitable by humans, at least, so we will need suits for protection.
[But he is focused entirely on building an engine. A powerful one. He begins to make notes, gritting his teeth in aggravation when he has to change the pen to his left hand.]
...an ion engine... Or dual ion engines... If I could get my hands on parts for one, we could go further than Mars.
