[Schematics are essential, you know. Anakin has a desk full of them; his drawings are precise and not without various calculations in the margins. A small smile lingers on his lips as he studies his latest model.]
I've missed the stars. [But they are hardly the destination.] Mars is the red planet, isn't it? The atmosphere is mostly carbon dioxide with a mixture of nitrogen and argon - as well as other trace gasses. This sun's radiation is what makes it uninhabitable by humans, at least, so we will need suits for protection.
[But he is focused entirely on building an engine. A powerful one. He begins to make notes, gritting his teeth in aggravation when he has to change the pen to his left hand.]
...an ion engine... Or dual ion engines... If I could get my hands on parts for one, we could go further than Mars.

And to get out of the system to the next would require a working hyperdrive.
text;
Yes, it would. [Share with the class.]
ext;
Then there is also the issue of how to power the hyperdrive, especially given the current level of technology on this planet.

Radiation, thermal insulation and temperature regulators, a layer of at least light to medium armorweave to prevent puncture or laceration damage to the suit. Communications equipment...
Pressurization for the extremities if they're to be used in high-speed maneuvering. Not to mention power systems. Zero-gravity maneuvering can also be prudent but is not often necessary.

My method will keep the weight of the system low, but I still require fabricated or salvaged parts.

god second time i've wrongjournaled tonight
Included are all contingencies and alternative parts, with my assessment of supported crew compliment for all viable results. My presence will be required to maintain it, but if necessary I may make the journey in deep meditation to preserve oxygen.
I could induce the same state in others for further efficiency, but the technique produces significant discomfort. I would consider it a last resort
We all do that from time to time. <3

Unfortunately, the first difficulty would be leaving this planet's gravity well, however.
video;
We're working on it. A powerful engine, propelled by the fuel this planet favors should be enough. We're not going far.
video;
That sort of fuel is highly combustible. And weighted suits may prove too difficult for many.

I mean ion engines might be a bit...uh difficult to get our hands on but--[He misses space, the deep reaches of it and the worlds he could find. Much has he missed Earth back where he was from, this one wasn't his.] It'd be worth a shot...

[Optimism! Anakin doesn't show that trait much anymore. Bask in this moment!]
I think so too.

not here, just at home shaking her head a little
She can't help that even if she's not sure this is at all a good idea it still brings a smile to her face, though. ]
