So what do you do when you get fired for sticking up for a co-worker? Is there a place I can report something like that, or do I just sort of have to take it and try to find another job? Not that I wasn't planning to find another job eventually, but I wasn't really planning to have to go looking so soon after coming back. Ya know? I was more than willing to try to stick it out while I looked for something else.
I just, how do you justify calling someone in when the requested the day off for a family thing and got it? Like how?
So uh yeah thoughts or advice would be helpful.

I think here, you report it to the government. Worst they do I think is take away the right for imPorts to be placed there for employment.
What even happened?

I think I kind of already said what happened.
[It isn't even like it was his fault. He was just trying to help.]

Can you say it in something other than vague-teenager-speak?

[ He's also trying to help, dumbass; quit being a pest! ]

[Could have fooled him. Hey he's the one that wrote the message it looks perfectly clear to him.]

What exactly did you do to get yourself fired? All you said was something about someone that got called in on their day off.

I interfered with my boss trying to call the girl in. Mostly tried to talk him out of calling her. She deserves time with her family you know.

Did you offer an alternative?
[ Or did he just give him attitude? ]

It's a shitty supervisor that don't respect their own agreements. Same kinda manager who's gonna be wondering why their turnover's so high.

It's a shitty company that just doesn't care. Not really.

But not Haru. There's something about it that eats away at her. ]
May I ask what exactly it is you said to your employer on behalf of your coworker?
text
A lot of things, but mainly that calling her in was bull and I could stay late if it was really that important to have the body. It didn't go well.

However, it does sound strange. How many times has this happened?

Yeah I know. Retail is pretty much the norm for call-ins or sudden need of a replacement for a shift. I get that. It was kind of my norm of sorts back home.
But this is ridiculous where it happens more than a couple times a day and several times a week. And there is no respect for those that may have requested time off according to company policy, because apparently time off is something only managers are allowed to have. Or at least that's the attitude my manager had and the way he made it sound when letting me go was that it was one held all the way up to the top.

This hardly sounds excusable. It also hits a little too close to home. ]
I am sorry that you and your coworkers have had to endure this. It's not acceptable.
[ A beat. ]

I'm sorry that happened to you, because it shouldn't have.

They were less than awesome so I'm not surprised.

If you're willing to talk to me more on the record, I could also pitch an article to my bosses at Heropa Daily? See if the media would be interested in picking it up?
text »
On the record? Like an interview? Would that help anything? Couldn't it hurt those that still work there?

I'm not sure yet, since I haven't figured out what angle I'd want to take, but your co-workers are the last people I'd want to hurt.
It's also okay if you say no, btw.
I don't want to pressure you into anything.
