9th Oration // Voice

Greetings, Network. It has been some time since I addressed you. Much has changed since then, not least of all the end of my captivity.

The last time I posted here, I was... not myself. A being will say almost anything under torment, you understand. However, I do not retract any of the apologies or amends I have offered to those I have previously wronged. Nor do I deny that I went too far in pursuing my goals. Instead, as I complete my probation and rejoin you as a free imPort, I make this pledge: I only wish to live among you in safety and in peace, and will take no violent action except to defend myself and my fellow imPorts from those who threaten us.

In that vein, I also have an announcement to make. I have come to a realization during my imprisonment and reformation: the teachings of the Sith Order are every bit as foolish and delusional as those of the Jedi. They promise freedom, but deliver bondage. They promise revelation, but deliver deception. I have followed this path for more than a decade, and it has led only to ruin. No more.

[Dramatic pause for effect.]

And so, with you all as my witnesses, I hereby renounce forever my ties to the Sith, and cast aside my title of Sith Lord. I will be Darth Tyranus no longer, and nor will I be Antares of the Constellation. From now on, I am only Count Dooku, a wielder of the Force, and I hope in time, once more a member of the imPort community.

I leave you with one final thought. The Constellation I once led was more than just an organization, and more than the one man who created it. The Constellation is an idea: that imPorts should be free to control their own lives. That idea is not so easily destroyed.

[The Count lets that linger a moment, then sighs softly.]

Ah, one more thing. I would be most grateful if someone would be so kind as to recommend a place where one could obtain a new, good-quality cape.

[Upon first listening to this, Shuichi isn't about to touch it with a ten foot pole but then the word 'safety' comes up and it reminds him of a prior conversation that hit home a little more than he expected. This person was... a criminal, right? That's what he was gleaning off here, one that was recently freed and so he indeed did do his time.

A prisoner that was taken up as some weird... slave, like the rest of them, in a new situation, one that's strange and mandatory and honestly a bit horrifying, as nice as things here can seem.]

[It doesn't help that he is alone in his dark room constantly and is getting steadily more lonely as the days pass.]

[That said, all that about Sith and Jedi sort of goes right past him, but then- he figures it's not meant to be something he understands. Cultural differences stuff, maybe? Um, universe based... differences? Just something that existed for this person and not him, so why should he have any idea about it?]

[Easier part first. And then he pauses. His voice leaves him with a strain to it, showing his youth to a degree but making his difficulties as an insomniac more obvious than anything else.]

Ah yes, young Mister Calrissian's post. I knew him as an older man, before the Porter... changed him. I see his fine taste in fashion has not shifted.

There are indeed a great many other individuals from my Galaxy present here. The Porter seems to prefer us, for whatever reason.

[As an older... man. His mind wraps around what he's being told and he understands, to a degree, but it still feels really impossible either way. Granted a lot did here... all he felt he could do was just sigh and take the mans word, though the idea of an older version of himself being here before or after him started to really bother him...]

Oh, okay. I guess that makes you saying all this make more sense then. I have no idea what a lot of that means. But I do understand wanting to have control of my life. Is that something imPorts have been fighting against here?

Renouncing the Order's politics is a worthy act.

An odd thing to hear from one who still bears the title of Darth, Lord Jadus. But your Order is very different from the one I have just departed.

The title is honest, but incomplete. The Sith began the work that I continue. When their machinations proved too unreasoning to respond to necessity, I left them to stop our Emperor. And then, to pursue a greater understanding of the Dark.

What do you seek now?

I've always believed we should not be chained by the pasts we came from within this world. And it is relieving to see you are willing to break free from yours, Count Dooku. It's likely to be a long while before many are willing to forgive you for your actions.

[ But imPorts are always getting ported out while new ones arrive. Soon, most of them would forget. ]

You are most gracious, Lord Baelish. I understand that forgiveness may not be forthcoming from many. But I cannot let that hold me back from forging a new path away from my past.

I do wish you well in your journey and hope you find a satisfying endeavor to put your efforts toward. While I do not condone what you had done, I do understand your ideals. You have sought what you believed to be freedom. I hope in breaking the chains of the Sith Order, you are able to achieve that freedom to a certain extent.

I still don't understand anything about the Force. Beyond the fact it seems to cause more problems than solve them.

The Force is a source of great power to those who can master it. Yet it can indeed bring challenges of its own, particularly those stemming from the ancient conflict between Light and Dark.

However, your actions will be more telling than your words.

I find both to be terrible difficult to believe. And that latter assertion -- you'll want a formal assessment in order to claim that.

You are well informed... Mister Anderson. The charges were exaggerated, I can assure you. My intention on the night of my capture was only to execute a bloodless acquisition of certain key technologies. It was my enemies who escalated the situation into violence.

Theft of private property is still a crime, and theft of government property is still considered treasonous, but it's nice to hear murder wasn't your intention.

...Despite the fact that if you had only commit murder, your sentence likely would have been lighter. Or, you might not have had one at all. Strange, isn't it?
