[When Jennifer turns the camera on, she smiles shyly and hesitates a little before starting to speak:]

So... this stuff that's been going on recently got me thinking. I'm trying to think about long-term plans, since for all I know I could be trapped here a while... [She hesitates again.] Back home, I got recruited for my job straight out of med school, and while I loved it and loved what I did... I think I'd like to open my own practice, too. But there's more than that... [She places her free hand in her lap, looks down at it, then back at the camera.] I also got to go around to other planets where people didn't have easy access to a doctor. To help them with diseases and injuries, and... I'd kinda like to do something like that again. My powers could be a big help with that and mean less equipment to transport... but I'm also only one person.

I don't even really know why I'm putting this out there. I guess my question is- have any imPorts taken a stab at having their own business here?

I'm unsettled, but I've managed to open a business recently.

Same answer- I'm registered myself, in case that makes a difference.

You're entitled to better financial assistance.

In my case, I took a joint loan with my co-CEO and taking personal cuts to my pay so I can make sure my employees can at least put food on their table and keep a roof above their heads.

That's helpful to know- thank you. I want to make sure I have as much information as possible so I know if it's even feasible for me to do something like this here.

I say "when there's a will there's a way".

They did want imPorts to build their own businesses a while back. I doubt that's off the table yet.

Agreed- and I'll find a way to make it work. Even if it takes a while...

And that makes sense to me. If we're here, we might as well try to make a life for ourselves, right?

I know we've been put into a tight situation, but we still have our free will for the most part. We're able to make good use of it if we really want to.

And that's something to be thankful for, definitely. It'd be a lot worse if we weren't given the welcoming package and all... and I'm not the kind of person who likes to be idle for any length of time, at any rate.

Who would've thought I'd miss working so fast? I used to have to drag myself out of bed.

I used to count down the days til I had some free time back home- and even then, it wasn't guaranteed, being a doctor and all. But when I got here, I got some more regular hours and thus more free time than I know what to do with. Maybe I need a hobby.

What'd you do back home for fun when you had time?

I lived near the ocean, so I loved taking walks. Or I'd spend time with my boyfriend. Watch all the movies I never had time for in school. That kind of thing.

Well, the ocean's about twenty minutes away here.

I'll have to make time to visit, then. Especially before the weather starts getting colder- there wasn't much in the way of seasonal changes where I lived. And when it does get cold, I can get better-acquainted with the marvel that is internet streaming.

Have you never streamed before?

The year was 2009 where I came from, so it wasn't in widespread usage yet. That and I worked in a pretty isolated area, so our entertainment options were limited to DVDs.
