So... this stuff that's been going on recently got me thinking. I'm trying to think about long-term plans, since for all I know I could be trapped here a while... [She hesitates again.] Back home, I got recruited for my job straight out of med school, and while I loved it and loved what I did... I think I'd like to open my own practice, too. But there's more than that... [She places her free hand in her lap, looks down at it, then back at the camera.] I also got to go around to other planets where people didn't have easy access to a doctor. To help them with diseases and injuries, and... I'd kinda like to do something like that again. My powers could be a big help with that and mean less equipment to transport... but I'm also only one person.

I don't even really know why I'm putting this out there. I guess my question is- have any imPorts taken a stab at having their own business here?

I say "when there's a will there's a way".

They did want imPorts to build their own businesses a while back. I doubt that's off the table yet.

I know we've been put into a tight situation, but we still have our free will for the most part. We're able to make good use of it if we really want to.

And that's something to be thankful for, definitely. It'd be a lot worse if we weren't given the welcoming package and all... and I'm not the kind of person who likes to be idle for any length of time, at any rate.

Who would've thought I'd miss working so fast? I used to have to drag myself out of bed.

I used to count down the days til I had some free time back home- and even then, it wasn't guaranteed, being a doctor and all. But when I got here, I got some more regular hours and thus more free time than I know what to do with. Maybe I need a hobby.

What'd you do back home for fun when you had time?

I lived near the ocean, so I loved taking walks. Or I'd spend time with my boyfriend. Watch all the movies I never had time for in school. That kind of thing.

Well, the ocean's about twenty minutes away here.

I'll have to make time to visit, then. Especially before the weather starts getting colder- there wasn't much in the way of seasonal changes where I lived. And when it does get cold, I can get better-acquainted with the marvel that is internet streaming.

Have you never streamed before?

The year was 2009 where I came from, so it wasn't in widespread usage yet. That and I worked in a pretty isolated area, so our entertainment options were limited to DVDs.

I didn't do much of it back home (no time), but I'll tell you now: you can say goodbye to productivity in the house once you start.

That's what I'm afraid of. It's tempting to just veg when I come home from work, especially since one of my housemates is an amazing cook.

Stream and enjoy food.

I'm jealous, though. I was living mostly with young people and the other guy's doctor. Not much time for cooking.

So it's the old convenience-food-and-takeout diet in that case? I know how that goes; I'm not much of a cook, so I feel spoiled.

Learning to cook can always be another one of your long-term plans.

True. It does seem a little weird to plan on being here for a while, but it's not something I'll have any control over.

Mm... on one hand you can't do nothing, but it is a little strange when you stop to think about it.

Yeah, this is definitely not a direction I ever saw my life taking.

Me, too. I mean, it's not been too terrible here for the most part, but I'd rather be back home.

It doesn't bother you they injected us with nanites without our immediate knowledge? I'm certain that's a violation of our basic human rights right there.

Well... yeah. Yeah, that does worry me... I've had some bad experiences with nantes in the past.

Self-replicating nanites interest me on a professional level, as my team of scientists were able to realize Drexler's grey goo theory... without the consuming-the-whole-world part.

It can be used for good. I've seen it done and done so myself.

But to use that kind of tech on people...
