2. a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal.

There are a great many heroic types among the imPort population, and this is probably a rather tired question, but indulge my curiosity if you would.

What is it the elevates a person from simply well-intentioned, to someone worthy of such a distinguished title?

Deeds? Bravery? Strength? Capability? Righteousness? Nobility? All of the above, or some combination thereof?

Or is it simply that there's one person in the world that believes it?

you're probably going to get a lot of different answers. But for me, since I have the power to help people, isn't it my responsibility to do that? I love heroes and I have always wanted to be one.

but I think you also kind of . . . owe it to others if you have the power.

A difficult moral inquiry. Not all of us possess such bravery, or hold such ideals. Do all heroes wish to save others? Or are there those that only do so out of a sense of obligation?

I'm pretty sure no one tells you that you're obligated. at least i hope no one is mean enough to do so

But if it's their responsibility to use their abilities to help others, a person could certainly feel that silent pressure moral obligation- and even accusation, should they fail to do so- regardless of whether or not it was voiced.

but fail how? fail to not do anything? because that's the only thing I can think of. it's not like people expect perfection.

but if you don't do anything at all, then why are you here? as imPorts, we're the lucky ones.

Some do.

But no one makes the decision to come here. Forcing someone to fit a mould that was never theirs is nothing short of self-serving.

I'm not saying the government is good. I'm saying the people here get the worst out of it. self-serving? you should see how many people get hurt because an imPort decides to have fun with their powers. it happens. a lot.

if anything, that's more self-serving. i guess for adults, it's harder. maybe they need to know the big picture or they need more reasons.

i just want to help the people here. doesn't matter where I go, if I can still do that.

Yes, as a whole, imPorts are a dangerously unpredictable sort. But there are also those that are little more than civilians themselves.

You are a very selfless individual, and that's admirable. Unfortunately, that's not an ideal everyone can live up to.

uhhhh I didn't come "equipped". I'm not a rpg character. I had to train and fight and learn.

Yes, I'm certain you did. But that's years of training some didn't have coming here, nevermind the new abilities themselves.

how old do u think I am. I didn't have years of training. stop trying to compare yourself to me. it's kind of creepy that you think a sixteen year old girl is better than you at fighting. or that you think she SHOULD be.

Sorry. I tend to think everyone here is rather more adept at combat than I am. And I had no idea how old you were beyond that you mentioned you've 'been doing this awhile'. Which does imply considerable experience.

I was lucky. someone took the time to train me a little, but it's only been a year for me. but compared to the others? pretty sure I'm still a n00b.

Fair enough. I'm taking self-defense lessons, but we'll see how that works out, I suppose.
