noun, plural heroes;

1. a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for their brave deeds and noble qualities.
2. a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal.

There are a great many heroic types among the imPort population, and this is probably a rather tired question, but indulge my curiosity if you would.

What is it the elevates a person from simply well-intentioned, to someone worthy of such a distinguished title?

Deeds? Bravery? Strength? Capability? Righteousness? Nobility? All of the above, or some combination thereof?

Or is it simply that there's one person in the world that believes it?

I suppose it's intention over anything else. No matter what you think about yourself, if someone else thinks that you're a hero, you're considered a hero.

That's a deceptively simple definition, but no less true perhaps.

More true than the dictionary definition. Very few people self-identify as a hero, they just get the label slapped on them and decide to try and live up to it.

What, than nobody being called a hero? I'd prefer that, because then it'd be a bit more inspiring when people do things that are actually heroic.

To be honest, considering some of the things that have happened, I'm surprised we aren't largely vilified already. [ but back to Hermann's point, ] You're right though, this is better than just being called a bad egg over and over again.

Yes, it is surprising, considering how unpredictable imPort powers can be. I quite imagine attendance at swear-ins will be low, as they often seem to fall under siege.

Alternatively, swear-ins will be attended entirely by people like me who enjoy falling head-first into trouble.
