001 ʜʏᴅʀᴏɢᴇɴ ⚛ video

I'm told there's a swearing-in ceremony coming up next month, and I had just a few questions about that.

[ lydia's standing just outside residence #026, wearing a cheeky smile. all things considered, she's begun to develop her own theories on this, but information borne of experience is more reliable than whatever slanted, biased garbage she's been fed by the government officials who've helped to settle her in. ]

Well. One, really.

All imPorts are considered registered by default on arrival, but not everyone stays that way. Is that decision motivated by some hipster romanticization of homelessness, or are there legitimate reasons to reconsider the graciousness of our hosts?

[ okay, so her own attempts at impartiality were a little sabotaged by equating unregistered heroes to homeless people. she's still hoping some unregistered vigilantes will reply with their reasoning. ]

Oh, and, I'll be needing suggestions for where to find a dress for the ceremony.

Trust me when I say there is nothing romantic about homelessness.

That said, I'mmmm not too keen on being the government's puppet? So I'm kind of undecided right now on the whole thing. I guess you could say I'm waiting to see how things go, get all the facts first. Way I see it, there's no need to rush the decision.

Anyway, I'm new myself-- obviously-- so I don't have any suggestions for your last point. But if you want a shopping buddy... it's always more fun with two, right?

[Skye knows that look well-- she transferred in and out of enough high schools in her teens to be able to pick out the popular kids from the losers on sight. Not that it ever mattered, because she was never a part of either group, and because Skye always knew she wouldn't be staying at any one high school for long anyway.

Skye for her part looks like she's standing over a desk or a kitchen bench indoors somewhere, elbows resting on it, relaxed. Her casual clothes neither as stylish nor as traditionally feminine as Lydia's-- there's tragic amounts of flannel, for starters-- but she wears it well. Like she chose it because she can pull it off and it suits her personality, not because she has no taste. (Though, perhaps more importantly: because it was in her price range.)]

Hey, I try. And I'm Skye. You are...?

It's a pleasure, Lydia. [And she means it. Lydia might be a little younger than her, but judging from her interactions with others over the network-- and Skye always checks those out where she can, because she's a busybody who likes to know as much as possible at all times-- she seems pretty smart and mature for her age. And Skye knows better than anyone that age is not an indicator of smarts-- her best friend has two PhD's at age 26 and is basically smarter than everyone she knows.]

I don't know, I'd feel bad asking someone to make us something in such a short span of time, but I guess it doesn't hurt to make an inquiry. Then again, this place is like... hella 50s style, right? I'd be surprised if we can't find something appropriately classy.

Wow, okay. That's either an impressively sized ego or some major fronting, but I'll let it slide.

[She doesn't sound mad or offended-- more like amused. Based on Lydia's good looks alone it could well be the former, but given that she's still in high school, Skye's willing to bet the latter. It hasn't been so long since she was a teenager herself.]

And yeah, tell me about it. Though, even offended outrage counts as information too, in a different kinda way. Depends on what info you're after, I guess.

[She isn't certain, but she has a sneaking suspicion that was exactly the kind of information Lydia was after. Skye made a similar post herself with similar intentions not one week ago.]

We might just have to look for now-- I don't know how they price things here, and I'm not entirely certain how much I'm getting paid, either. But if nothing else, it's a good opportunity to check things out. Fashion and... otherwise.

It's not snooping! [That response was perhaps a little too quick.] It's just ... getting the lay of the land. Nothing suspicious about that, right? A girl's allowed to get her bearing in a big, new and confusing city, right? [Skye flutters her eyelashes exaggeratedly, like she's pretending to be a naive girl from out of town.]

[Then her demeanor returns to normal as she adds, a beat later:] But feel free to wear flats if you want.

Uhhh... hmm. How about... here?

[In the second between "Uhhh" and "here", Skye brings up whatever this world's variation of Google Maps is to find a suitable mall in central Heropa, then sends it over to Lydia's comm.]

Looks nice and central.

haha i went out to work but yes no problem!!
