I'm not sure if this is the best way to do it, or if this will lead to anything, but - I'm afraid it's a bit of a Missing Persons ad. [Her voice is a bit unsteady in a way that suggests she's trying her hardest to maintain her composure. The apples of her cheeks are a bit flushed, the rims of her eyes a bit pinker than normal. She offers a very, very tight-lipped, twitching smile before her face goes sullen again.]

I'm wondering if anyone has seen the man in the image I'm about to show. He was last seen in De Chima yesterday morning and has not been seen or heard of since. His communicator was broken, though any message sent to him, regardless of format, bounces back as though there's - [She pauses, inhaling a short breath to steel herself to continue.]

As though there's no recipient to be found.

If you've any information, please let me know. Any assistance would - would be greatly appreciated.

[An image comes on the screen until the message goes black.]

[She croaks a sound barely human, a mix of rage and sorrow and relief and confusion. She's not in-frame, unable to compose herself enough to be on-air.

[This is the part that Cassian is going to enjoy the most, the switch to audio almost causing a snarl to break through the mask of pain and regret, angry now that he won't be able to see Jyn's face as hestabs the dagger into her heart.

Jyn...I needed some space. I didn't want to say anything but...you...were starting to smother me.

[There's a long, long silence.

Close to ten minutes, in fact.

In which, Jyn quickly spins through a series of emotions - betrayal and anger, to name a couple - eventually to land on self-preserving apathy. When she does finally speak again, her voice sound lethargic, almost exhausted.

She can't believe his words; he wouldn't say something like this. Surely. Not after she remembers what they'd shared at Neojedha. And so, a test.]

[During that long silence Cassian looks so very cold at first, his eyes searching for Jyn, hoping to see a video feed with her reaction, but as time lengthens he starts to get impatient, only subtly so but it's there, the flash of anger at the challenge even more noticeable.

Who the fuck were Akshaya and Hadder?]

Jyn that's not important now. Listen, I said a lot of things you wanted to hear just so that I could get you into bed. It was good while it lasted but, well I've had enough now, you know how it is.

[Cassian knows he's been rumbled, but that won't stop him trying to burn the most hateful things he can into Jyn's memory before he goes.]

You've failed to answer my question. [She's gritting her teeth now, the patience she's lost a sneer in her voice.] How did Akshaya and Hadder die?

[Cassian isn't answering because he can't and rather than confront that and let Jyn have the proof she's right he'll abandon the field altogether.]
