I have a task available for any imPorts looking for work. A simple retrieval, quite legitimate.

Something was taken from me earlier this year. A weapon I crafted with my own hands, long ago: my lightsaber. A curved hilt, which emits a red blade of energy when activated. Powerful and elegant, if wielded by the proper hands. It is past time that it returned to my care, and I am prepared to offer a most handsome reward to anyone who assists me in this task. Should we be unable to agree on a fitting financial compensation, I am quite prepared to trade in favours or information instead.

[Dooku is kinda broke right now.]

Rest assured that I desire this item for no sinister purpose. It is my own creation and rightful possession, and I have keenly regretted its absence during recent perils.

I encourage all of you who don't have some manner of weapon or suitable powers to think carefully of how you, too, can defend yourselves. We live in dangerous times, and our enemies are many. Tell me, are you prepared to protect your own life and the lives of those around you when danger threatens? The time may come for you, if it hasn't already, when you will have to answer this question in ways beyond the hypothetical.

It's encouraging to hear that thievery is acceptable to those on the right side of the fence. Is there a reason they're still clinging onto belongings that are hardly theirs?

I can't imagine. Perhaps they fear that I might no longer be an easy target if I regained my weaponry.

My enemies are equally paranoid, too. They would say "forewarn is forearmed", if you'd forgive the pun.

[He blinks at Dooku for a second. Did he just say that?]

[Dooku chooses the path of courtesy and does not comment on it.]

At least your preferred weapon is powerful enough to affect many at once. A lightsaber is not to be trifled with, but it is still simply a personal device. Nothing that should inspire such fearfulness in itself.

[restingstitchface]

[A neutrally sarcastic tone.]

I hardly need to tell you it's not the lightsaber they fear.

[dun_moch]

Indeed. How little do they achieve then, in keeping it from me. They must know it hardly limits the full scope of my powers.

[restingstitchface]

Perhaps they can't help it. They don't seem particularily mature. [A pause. Kids, right?] You're as much entitled to the protection of the law as anyone, though. They're not being asked to return property that they own.

[dun_moch]

Under the law as written that may be the case. But I think we both know that the law in practice is a very different thing. And so I must appeal to the aid of the community.

[Dooku has hardly forgotten how little action was taken when Grievous mauled him. It's the same corruption and apathy he exploited with relish time and again while masterminding the Constellation- but then it had been working in favour of his interests, not against them.]

[restingstitchface]

[He raises his brows, like he doubts that route of action will return anything at all. Polite, well-natured skepticism that hides his understanding of the power hidden in mass behavior.]

Good luck with that. If it's anything like leaning on the law you'll be stuck waiting for months.

[Leaning on. Intimidating. A subtle message to Dooku that perhaps he should do the same? Or no?]

Patience is a virtue of great value to beings of my age, Doctor. I have waited this long to rectify this iniquity. I can wait a little longer, if need be.
