[ A face some might have familiarized themselves with by now, but for most, here's a brand new imPort on the Network. Sabrina doesn't look as visibly exhausted or stressed as she did weeks ago when she first arrived, appearing chipper enough in the feed that one could assume she's settling in well.

(She's not there, no.)

She adjusts the black headband so that she keeps locks of her blond hair tucked behind her ears and away from her eyes and face. In her hand, she has a notebook and a pencil. For anyone paying attention, somewhere in the corner a slick black tail can be spotted. There's definitely a soft mew before Sabrina speaks. ]

I suppose I should get into the habit of using this communicator. It's definitely handy, but... [ Her lips press together. ] Hi, I'm Sabrina. I ported in here a few weeks ago and even though the soldiers gave me some sort of introductory pamphlet I have to say it would have been nice if they had given a warning that Swear-Ins apparently have a tendency to go south.

Honestly, I can't believe those events are still sponsored since most people I've met so far have told me this is normal.

[ She showcases her notepad, setting it down on the empty dinner table of her house. ]

So, because so many imPorts have been here long enough, I'm going to ask what sort of things a newcomer's got to be prepared for. Moon base takeovers? Apocalyptic floods? Zombies? I'd rather not be caught off guard, if I can.

[ Fortunato is himself quite concerned with exactly what they know- he had a power in his world that this government did not list, and it's too risky to test if he still has it or not. He won't tell Sabrina that, but the thought of it makes him sound especially serious and concerned. ]

We do not know how. To know about all of us...it would need power we do not understand.

And we do not know what they will do with the infomation. If they decide to.

That's why I'd rather find out the truth before they can do such a thing to us.

[ She's a stubborn one, this girl. ]

[ Fortunato can understand the feeling, and he's seen it before- but he knows most people his age weren't raised the way he was. He's inclined to underestimate most of them, especially considering Sabrina isn't presenting herself as anything special. ]

...How would you do that?

[ He doubts she has a plan. But she seems certain. ]

[melodramagic]

Dig around the Porter cities. Ask locals, look into old network posts.

[ Make a truth serum?? ]

... I'm not quite sure, but I'll figure out where to start.

[prayercycles]

[ She sounds so determined for someone so new- but Fortunato supposes some people are like that. Is she going to get beaten down by the effort, he wonders. But it's not like he can stop her. ]

You are not the only one who wants to do that. [ He pauses. ] None of it is simple. Or easy.

[melodramagic]

I don't think it will be, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

[prayercycles]

...That is true, too.

[ Normally he doesn't want to get involved with this sort of thing too much- but he is inclined to look into what he can, and Sabrina doesn't seem to know much more than him. If he was asked by someone he could be honest with, he'd say Sabrina seemed like a completely normal teenage girl. It wouldn't do any harm to offer his help, would it? ]

Good luck. And- if you need help- I could. Though my own abilities would not be helpful, either.

[ It's a shame she's so unwilling to tell others about her being a (half) witch. It would certainly skip a lot of the awkwardness and possibly change their perspectives when it comes to Sabrina looking for information. ]

That's alright, I appreciate the offer. Who knows, I might need an extra set of eyes or hands.

[ Well, uh. ]

Not all the time. It- it's complicated.

[ He walked right into this one. It still doesn't get easier to explain. ]

[ It's such an oddity, Sabrina has to satiate her curiosity. ]

As in a medical condition?

[ There's a moment where Fortunato is about to say something, then stops- he's trying to find the right way to put this. ]

A medical condition that- that changed, when I received powers.

[ Easier than saying "my eyes grew back." ]

[melodramagic]

For the better, I presume?

[ Fortunato frankly isn't sure why he was thought deserving of having a power like this. But, if he had to say so...he's thankful. ]

I suppose. [ Despite all the problems it's caused him, it's been a godsend, too. Literally, in his opinion. ] My point is the same.

[melodramagic]

[ Given how cagey he's being about it, Sabrina doesn't back down. ]

What was the condition?

[prayercycles]

[ Sabrina can't see him grimace. Probably for the better.

Hopefully she won't pry any more than she already is- this part, at least, isn't really a big secret. ]

...I could not see at all.

[melodramagic]

[ An awkward silence falls. ]

... I'm sorry.

[prayercycles]

[ He'd rather her not feel that way. Honestly, it feels as if it was longer ago than it was, after the last few months. ]

It is nothing. [ No it's not, but that's how he wants her to feel. ] Because- everything is much different, here.

[melodramagic]

[ That's what others have been trying to explain to her since the start as well. She might hate it here, but for others, it's a second chance at a better life in some ways. ]

Would you rather stay here?

[prayercycles]

[ Sabrina cuts right to the bone, doesn't she. He hesitates before answering, trying to make sure he doesn't tell her too much. ]

...No. That would not be fair. [ There's too many people still in his. ]

[melodramagic]

[ It takes her a moment, but she understands eventually. ]

... no, I guess it wouldn't.

[prayercycles]

[ A surprisingly understanding response. He doesn't like to push, but- ]

Then...do you think it would be the same, for you?

[melodramagic]

I can't stay here. I have... my family and friends to help at home.

[prayercycles]

[ And he feels the same way. Though he wonders how much she's figured out. ]

They say no time has passed, if we go back. But- no one would know what would happen, if someone stayed permanently. [ He pauses. ] If that is ever possible.
