[ A face some might have familiarized themselves with by now, but for most, here's a brand new imPort on the Network. Sabrina doesn't look as visibly exhausted or stressed as she did weeks ago when she first arrived, appearing chipper enough in the feed that one could assume she's settling in well.
(She's not there, no.)
She adjusts the black headband so that she keeps locks of her blond hair tucked behind her ears and away from her eyes and face. In her hand, she has a notebook and a pencil. For anyone paying attention, somewhere in the corner a slick black tail can be spotted. There's definitely a soft mew before Sabrina speaks. ]
I suppose I should get into the habit of using this communicator. It's definitely handy, but... [ Her lips press together. ] Hi, I'm Sabrina. I ported in here a few weeks ago and even though the soldiers gave me some sort of introductory pamphlet I have to say it would have been nice if they had given a warning that Swear-Ins apparently have a tendency to go south.
Honestly, I can't believe those events are still sponsored since most people I've met so far have told me this is normal.
[ She showcases her notepad, setting it down on the empty dinner table of her house. ]
So, because so many imPorts have been here long enough, I'm going to ask what sort of things a newcomer's got to be prepared for. Moon base takeovers? Apocalyptic floods? Zombies? I'd rather not be caught off guard, if I can.
( ooc: please fill this form out, re: spoilers! thank you. )

It's my first month too, but I gave it a miss. Lucky me, I guess.

[ She offers him a small smile. Fellow newbie. ]
You were better off. Welcome to... America, I suppose?
video
Thanks. An America, yeah—I'm from outside New York, just built a house on Long Island. But, you know. Not this place's New York, apparently. What about you?

Honestly, love, I don't think it's reserved to those swear ins. Chaos follows us imPort types 'round like a brutal bedfellow.
video
[ It's nice to see him again. ]
So we're targets despite most of us not wanting to be here? [ Then again, people will fear what they don't understand. ] And what does the government do to ensure our safety?
video
I wouldn't think there's much targeting. My understandin' is it's usually our folk causin' most the issues in the first place.

[ being scarabed wasn't...fun.... anyway HEY AGAIN BRINA. ]
The Swear-Ins are... fine, usually? But there's always some new stupid thing happening around here.
video
[ Another spell-casting hottie in all black with a name that starts with "N"? Dangerous. ]
That's what it's beginning to sound like. How is everyone not on high alert all the time here?
no subject
[ easy, spellman. you're cute and the magic's a plus, but that road goes nowhere. ]
We basically are on alert. Or most of us. But you learn to live with it, after a while?

I wish I could give you a full list. But generally, it's best to be prepared for the unexpected. All the things you just gave as examples? They've happened already. It's not just the Swear-Ins that can be dangerous.
But really, most days are pretty safe. And there are usually places that aren't affected where you can ride things out if you don't want to stay and fight.
video
[ This sixteen year old seems a little more aware than your average teen. ]
How would I prepare? Should I maybe, bring a baseball bat to Swear-Ins? Walk with a taser...?
video
No solid patterns, but... I'd say we average one big event a month. Violent or otherwise. And it tends to alternate between one of us causing problems, or some of the locals lashing out at us.
[He chuckles softly at the baseball bat question.]
Self-defense isn't a bad idea, but it's only one side of things. You can also plan ahead to think about the best escape routes from a big gathering if something goes wrong, or take some first aid training so you can help other people in a disaster. It depends on whether you just want to keep yourself safe, or pitch in to help respond.

That said, he sounds a bit awkward and stilted responding. He's not much for conversation. ]
I...believe all of those things may have happened, here. [ The flooding definitely did, at least. ] It may be better to prepare for anything.

Anyway, zombies are a Halloween thing, usually. You probably won't see those until next year. Unless someone gets very creative around Easter, I suppose.
