WANTED: 1 courageous soul willing to run weekly shopping errands for this week and the next. Buyer will be compensated for purchased goods and for time spent. Must be able to follow a list. Must have more patience than I do for the modern American custom of swarming the shops en fucking masse during the week before Christmas. Thank you.

[He attaches a list. It really is just a boring shopping list of fifteen or twenty items - meat from this kosher butcher, bread from that bakery, a can of a certain brand of shaving cream, and so on.]
no subject
[And he is very efficient at following the list and instructions, delivering everything promptly.]

Thank you, thank you-- and that's thirty-five.
[He hands over an envelope.]

Same thing next week?

[He doesn't use the open network for that sort of delivery.]</small. Business not going well, mate?

[One world instead of an entire galaxy of potential lawlessness.]

[Straight to the point, this one.]

Guess I have a bit of time.
[He's thinking mainly that it might be good to be polite and take up the offer for the future of more job opportunities.]
I'm not one for much tea. It's not around where I'm from. What do you recommend of it?
no subject
Well, that'll depend. Have you ever had it before?

[It's at this point that two medium-sized dogs come plodding out of a back room, tails wagging, coming to greet the visitor.]
Ah, right; I hope you don't mind animals.
no subject
As long as they stay out of my way.
[A little ominous. He then answers about the tea.]
No, tea's never been a priority for me.

[Alfie snaps his fingers at the dogs, pointing sternly towards the corner of the living room, where they have a big dog bed. They're reluctant - a visitor! A new person! They want to say hi! - but they're also well-behaved, so they both slink off to lie down, quietly and out of the way.]

Fine.
[He glances around. He's also in individual housing so this, at least, feels familiar.]
So you somebody afraid to go out or something?
[Since he just did the man's shopping.]
no subject
I'll be honest, mate; I was just not in the fucking mood today.

If you hadn't, I'd think your life very sheltered.
