001: Video

[The face on the screen is of a pretty, dark-haired woman in her mid-twenties. But there's something serious to her eyes, a way she seems to be taking in every detail and filing it away for future use.]

I'm not going to ask any of the "who, what, where" kind of questions. Given the briefing and the fact that this place has apparently been doing this for a while, it'd probably be kind of pointless.

But I'm Helena. Helena Wayne.

And I've got to say... the super-powers thing is the most unexpected part of all of this. Never had much need of them before, though I can't say I wasn't jealous of Karen sometimes.. Still... definitely unexpected. Anybody else dealing with first time powers?

You know, I do seem to recall seeing the name Crane in the papers a few times...

[Crane's expression is very, very bored. The only thing that seems to bring him amusement is the thought of hearing about himself - for the umpteenth time.]

Not in obituaries, I hope.

Nothing like that. Though the last time was many years ago. Something about being sent to jail... by Robin.

[He preens himself on camera: dusts his shoulders, adjusts his glasses and then smiles into the picture.]

Really? How fascinating.

[Yep, you're moving yourself to the top of the "people to watch" list, Doctor Crane.]

I suppose. Gotham has so many super-criminals, it's hard to keep track of the minor ones.

[restingstitchface]

[No reaction. He remains satisfied and happy and it shows in his tone.]

My guess is because they actually know what they're doing.

[You can get away with more when people underestimate you.]

[bat_daughter]

[Oh, you are good, Doctor Crane. But she'd expect no less.]

You might be right about that.

[He sighs quietly.]

I should hope so.

[bat_daughter]
