[Video] 002 - Hello Fellow Teens [sunglasses emoji]
[ There she is in front of the same shed as last time. This time she's wearing clothes that fit this world better, and she's dyed her hair brown. She seems a little more relaxed this video. ]
So, been here a month. Still getting a lot of things down, and a general thanks to everyone who's been helping.
I'm actually making this video for a reason other than to update you all on my absolutely thrilling progress.
Last month Lucina and Utena informed everyone of the teen-night at the bowling alley, and as far as I can tell it was a huge success. Lucina and I talked and she mentioned that there aren't many chances for young imPorts to socialise, and mentioned that future similar events would be a good idea. I agree and want to help make that sort of thing happen, but I can't really do that without feedback from others.
First, I'd like to know what types of places you guys think would be good to have get-togethers at. Preferably places without active availability to alcohol - not that they're ruled out, just that I think it's going to be a little harder to talk adults into letting us chill there for a few hours.
I'd also like to know if you guys are interested in things like camping and just having pot-luck style parties at parks, or if you want to keep it to things like bowling and arcades, or even just making sure any food is prepared by someone who knows what they're doing. I won't lie, if something can be done that doesn't require an entry fee, that's going to be a lot easier to set up.
What are some places and activities you absolutely want no part of? I mean, I think most people can agree that cave exploring with a bunch of teens, possibly in the middle of nowhere, is a recipe for disaster, and I can see why some people would want no part of it. [ She leans in just a bit and stage whispers. ] Even if it is my idea of a fun time.
[ She then returns to her former position, and former volume. ]
And lastly on the askance front, I'd like to ask for help from both my fellow young imPorts and from any adults who might be willing to chaperone, or just give advice.
There's only so much I can do on my own, and I'm located in De Chima. It would be a lot of help to have people in other porter cities who can help me with checking out places, and talking to business owners to see if they'd let us set up a night to hang out there without calling in reporters and making a big deal out of it. It would also be a real help to have the help of adults when it comes to sitting down and talking to business owners. Both because they're more likely to take adults seriously, and because no matter how much reading I do ahead of time, I'm not going to catch on to some attempts to take advantage of things that someone with more experience under their belt might.
[ She looks like she's about to say her parting words for a moment, then pauses. ]
Oh, and I do actually have one more thing to ask. Does anyone know some type of flexible work an imPort might be able to get on the weekends? I have my part time job, but I doubt that it'll be enough to do all this on, and I'm certainly not going to ask for help on the financial side of this until I've done things. It's probably best I find something flexible, too, because I'm going to need to make sure I have time to train my abilities.
I think that's all. Thanks. Ruby out.

Anything 'haunted.'
Hard pass on that.
[Darin you're not even a teenager, you're 25, stop pretending you're hip.]
Re: [VIDEO]
Thanks for the feedback.
Re: [VIDEO]
I don't get why people are always so keen on getting spooked.
Re: [VIDEO]
I once read an article that more or less said 'people like experiencing fear in situations they feel they can control'. So basically situations where they feel they can just leave the building if it gets to be too much.
Re: [VIDEO]
But aside from the spooky stuff, I don't have any preferences on activities. Anything can be made fun with the right people, after all.
Re: [VIDEO]
One thing that was suggested was balloon fighting on the beach. So I'm hoping you really do feel that way, because you'll probably be the oldest one there, which will absolutely make you a target. [ Oh and that grin she gives is very, very amused. ]
Re: [VIDEO]
[AHEM]
Beach party, though? Now that's something I could get behind. And if you think you can make me a target, I hope you know I won't be easy to bring down.
Re: [VIDEO]
A beach party sounds like the best idea so far. And I'm not saying I will make you a target, just that you'll be the one that stands out the most as the most skilled member.
On a related note, would you be willing to vouch for us on occasion when talking to local business owners?
Re: [VIDEO]
Re: [VIDEO]
The point of this is to give other young imports places to interact and form connections. If anyone actively tries to cause crap, that reflects badly on the attempt, which will cause a bad rep, which will make it harder to find places willing to host us. That's not even including the fact that there seems to be a lot of people who don't want to get involved in fighting at all, and just want to live a peaceful life, and this would discourage them.
[ Her chin raises a little, and her tone gets a little impassioned. ]
I'm not just willing to set this stuff up. I'm willing to escort people out, and ban them from the activity if it becomes a habit, or if the first offense is too big of a deal to let off with just a warning. I want this to work, and I'm going to do what I can to make it happen.

Re: [VIDEO]

[She thinks for a moment.]
I'm a musician. I get to set my own hours sometimes. Do you have an art? Not necessarily music, anything you could make and sell on your own. Or do you have a driver's licence and a car? This world has to have some equivalent of uber.
Re: video
The only creative thing I've ever had any inclination towards is maybe writing stories? I haven't done it in a long time, and I don't have the drive to do it I used to have as a kid. I'm certainly willing to give it a try even if it doesn't make me feel what I did when I was little, if it can lead to ways to help this whole get-together thing work. I don't think I know what Uber is? I don't have a car, an no licence, but the times I've driven cars illegally all turned out pretty well.
video
Writing might help you with work too. You might be able to write articles for websites. Or edit things that others have written. I've heard of people typing up dictated notes. Not the most exciting thing, but you could easily make your own hours. [She pauses for a moment, deciding how to explain.] Uber was a type of ride share on my world. It's like a taxi service except people use their own cars and other people use an app when they need a drive. It wouldn't work for you without a car. So not a great idea, sorry.
Re: video
I never thought about writing real articles... I've only ever written propaganda. I wonder if I've got enough skill to offer my editing skills in English... Typing up dictated notes is really easy, especially if you're writing up from a recording. You can set it to play at 1.5 times the speed or faster and just go quickly. Hm. Yeah, I think I can offer these types of services. I just need to figure out where to offer them.
As for Uber, that sounds like a mixture of fun and frustrating. [ She lets out a small laugh. ] Thanks for telling me about it though.
Re: vide
There. You have options. As to where to offer them, maybe look in wanted ads? I've never actually looked for work. They gave me a job when I got here and impovision led to my music career. [She chuckles.] Fun and frustrating. You make uber sound like flappy bird.
Re: vide
Sounds like a plan. And if nothing else, I can probably take out an ad saying 'hey here's what I can do', too. I think they give everyone jobs. I think I saw someone who is much younger than me with one.
video
Good luck with the job hunt.
Re: video
Thanks!
[permavideo]
Though I do know hanging out in the woods without adult supervision was pretty common.

[A beat.]
Oh! We could do beach hangouts.
no subject
Good news! That's actually something we're working out. Or, well, someone suggested it to me and it seems like a really easy thing compared to a lot of other options. There are going to be water guns, water balloons. Food, probably a potluck but I'm still going to bring extra in case someone isn't capable of bringing something. And I'm looking into the local laws to see what the rules are for barbecue cooking.
no subject
Cool! You know I haven't been to a potluck since I used to go to those with my parents. Maybe I could try to make something.
no subject
I know I'd appreciate it. The only suggestion I have is make sure it's not something easily spoiled from being in the sun. Aside from that, ah, well. I'm still learning how to cook on a stove, so I'd have been likely to just buy things to bring, if I wasn't already doing that anyway.
no subject
Of course.
Maybe we could get together sometime and play around with some recipes? I'll be honest I'm not much of a cook myself, but they say practice makes perfect. Or at the very least it helps improve things.
no subject
Sounds good to me. I'm still on really simple stuff like shrimp doria and stuff like that, but there's nothing saying simple isn't also good. And this would be a good way to practice in general. I'm free on weekends, and after 8PM on weekdays.
no subject
I'm not sure I'd call that a simple dish. Anything that takes more than, um, I'm going to say three steps isn't simple.

There's always something like curry. You just cook the meat, chop up the vegetables, put them in the same pan with some water and curry sauce, then sit back and wait for it to be done. Well, that and make the rice. But even I can make good rice. Theoretically. I was mostly only allowed to cut things up and set the right amount of water to boiling, but they kept talking about having me help with rice before my training kept me from helping there.
