[He was gone for a week. A WEEK. And he comes back to find Anakin an emotional mess and a certain Sith Lord mentioning something about thoughts becoming reality on the network a few days ago. What incredible timing this all had. Considering Anakin's state, he decides it would be a good idea to check in with others who were probably affected.

The filter includes: Anakin, Padme, Leia, Luke, Kanan, Ezra, and Rex.]

It would seem that fate has terrible timing. I just came back from a brief trip overseas, and I see that I missed out on quite an event. Is everyone all right?

I saw my mother in danger; I saw her calling for me. Then I saw Padmé calling for me too while she was...dying. During childbirth.

I've never had experience with such visions. It would be difficult not to react to something so terrible.

[Many Jedi never saw visions of the future, at least not so vividly. Obi-Wan was one of those.]

Nothing can be done with what's already happened. Though I can't help but wonder, knowing what we do now, if Palpatine didn't have something to do with your visions.

But it came true, didn't it? My mother was on the brink of death when I found her and Padmé...

[He winces, unable to continue as his throat tightens.]

Visions are a difficult matter, Anakin. Many of them are vague at best, and can not be easily interpreted.

There was a time when Master Qui-Gon had a vision during one of our missions together. He was so convinced of it, that he did everything he could to try to prevent it from coming true. His vision ultimately did come true, though not in the way he expected, and his decisions nearly cost me my life.

One can believe something so strongly that the actions taken to prevent it actually cause it to come true.

Mine aren't vague. [He stares at Obi-Wan, a faint frown appearing between his eyebrows.] Do you think that's what happened to Padmé? Do you think I caused...?

[There was a pause from Obi-Wan. He didn’t want to say it, but he also felt he needed to be honest with Anakin.]

I can’t say one way or the other about your mother, but I was there when Padme died.

I believe if events hadn’t unfolded the way they had, that she would have survived.

[No matter what tone Obi-Wan uses - no matter how kindly he phrases it - Anakin feels his stomach turn the moment he hears those words. He is kind enough to not take his communicator along for the trip to the bathroom and it's some time before he returns, his face and hair damp.]

...does she know? She must. That...

What did I do to her? I choked her, I remember that, but did I kill her like that?

[Obi-Wan is patient, and in those minutes that Anakin is absent, he spends them in meditative silence. Looking to the Force for guidance. When he comes back, he just resumes where they left off.]

I’m not certain.

She had to be induced into labor because she was dying, but the medical droids could not say why. They said she lost the will to live. Whether that’s true or not, I don’t know. What I do know is that there was no medical explanation for her death.

[No medical explanation. He has shared his theory about Sidious with Obi-Wan and now it seems even more likely. Running a hand through his hair, he grimaces, his head beginning to ache atrociously.]

He must have...interfered. He told me he knew how to save someone from death.

Instead of saving her, he used her life to save me.

[Obi-Wan does remember that conversation. It's actually coming back to him as he says that.]

I'm so sorry, Anakin.

[There was a mix of meaning and emotion in those words. Sympathy as well as an apology. At one point Obi-Wan would have thought such a thing would be impossible, but now, he could believe it. Anakin has been thoroughly tricked and used as the Emperor's tool, and in the most cruel way possible. Not only did Obi-Wan fail to protect Anakin, or save him from Palpatine's grasp, but he also failed to end his suffering. If he hadn't hesitated, if he had done what needed to be done, it would have spared Anakin decades of pain. Not only that, it may have saved Padme's life as well. His failure to act resulted in tragedy for both of them, and that was a hard pill to swallow.]

[He doesn't know what to do with the information - he feels the truth behind it and it nauseates him. If he could go back in time and throttle Palpatine to death, he would do so gladly. But he's here and there isn't anything he can do about it.]

If I remember anything from my time here, I hope I remember that.

[So he can turn his rage in the right direction. He can't revive the younglings or anyone else he has killed, but he can at least not make it infinitely worse.]

[No, there's not much they can do about it here and now. If anything at all.]

I hope so as well.

[Obi-Wan has his doubts though. He didn't remember anything about this world between when he was ported out and brought back.]

If I don't, I will pay for it for the rest of my life. [As Vader, trapped in a suit, needing assistance to breathe, to move, to speak. He will have to wait for Luke to wake him.]

[It's a fate that was caused by Obi-Wan's own hand. If there was any way to keep that from happening, he would take the chance as well.]

Let's try to have a happier future, Master. [One that has some hope. It doesn't have to be perfect; just...better. Please.]

Relying on the Force will be a difficult task for me. [This will be his greatest obstacle because he is more stubborn than anyone in existence.]

It is difficult for everyone, Anakin. It requires giving up a control that most do not wish to.

I think it would be easier for me to give up one of my legs. I know you thought I was rash, but I always felt in control. I've never really given it up.

My intentions were good, but really misguided.

I wanted to make things better and I just...made them infinitely worse. Nothing is in my control except for...me.

The beginning of wisdom is knowing one is not in control.

We all must reflect on this, myself included.

I haven't hidden anything from you, Master. I know that's part of me improving. I have to face what I've done and accept punishment for it.
