001 ✨ video

[ It's late when this video appears on the network, most people might be sleeping at this time. Some of you might recognize the face looking back at the camera, a bleeding cut on her shoulder - holding something in her hands ... just out of the view of the frame. but she looks... the same. no worse for wear, mostly annoyed if anything. ] 

I'd ask what the point of sending someone out, only to return them without letting them set foot home first was but I doubt anyone would be able to give me a solid answer. I apparently was gone three months, I have a new living situation and they expect me to sell swimwear when I don't have the first idea of how to do that.

Finn? Poe, if you're both still here... I remember this place. 

[ Really her swimming skills are... barely skills. Her shoulders slump and she holds something - two somethings up. what was once the hilt of a very familiar lightsaber, broken straight in half. ]

And... I'm going to need help repairing this. 

[ she hesitates, as if to say something else - but thinks better of it and turns off the feed. ]

Sure! I've technically never fixed a saber, but I've built two? Well, I mean, I've never tried to fix a saber so who knows, I might be good at it just couldn't do it with the last one cause-

[Cause Vader and Sith temple and other things, but that doesn't matter.]

Darth Vader?

[The way he says it is almost sheepish, like yeah I sorta maybe fought that guy.]

And sure, I'll be there as soon as I can. See you soon.

[And sure enough, he's there! Eventually! He's dressed in modern clothes, not quite the perfect image of a Jedi rebel. Ezra's also got a plastic bag filled with junk, since he thought it might be helpful if they do any fixing or building. Some of it is stuff he had lying around his room, one thing he actually grabbed off the street on his way here? What, this is technically how he built his first saber.

When he spots Rey, he waves to her.]

Darth Vader? You faced The Darth Vader? [ Other than Luke, how many people can say that and be around to tell of it, she wonders?

... probably not many.

She has yet to change her clothes, she' still wearing the same tunic and slacks she'd worn when she arrived not long ago, cuts unbandaged - sitting on a park bench with the broken parts in hand. When she sees him, Rey waves him over. ]

[Ezra kneels down next to the bench rather than sitting because... he's dumping all the junk on the bench.]

Just in case.

[He looks to her and the broken saber, then holds out a hand.]

I'll take a quick look, but... no promises? And because you're probably wondering: no, I didn't beat Darth Vader. Yes, I lived. Also, I was sixteen. Also, I actually faced him more than once? And I really don't recommend it. Anything I missed?

[ she's gone toe to toe with Kylo Ren, she's not sure if that's better or worse than Vader - but for a myriad of reasons, she doesn't want to do so again.

(if she has to face him again it would be because he chose the dark over the light). ]

You're right, I was absolutely wondering. You got away, I take it. Vader doesn't seem like someone to let an opponent go unscathed, not willingly at least.

[ She'd handed him the saber and was now sifting through the items Ezra had brought.

Call it a force of habit, picking up each piece and wondering just how many portions it'd have earned her. ]

I was lucky, really. And I wasn't alone. I wouldn't have made it out otherwise.

[And after that, Vader just... stopped. Maybe he decided they weren't worth the effort. A bad decision on his part, but a great one for the Rebellion.

As he looks over the saber, Ezra also notices the way Rey examines the parts, as there's something familiar about it.]

The hilt should be fine, but-and this is probably obvious- the thing I'm worried about is the kyber crystal. It might not be impossible to work with a broken crystal, depending on how broken it is. I mean, I was able to use one for a blaster and a saber, so who knows. But... I guess the main thing is, how does it feel to you? The crystal.
