001 ✨ video

[ It's late when this video appears on the network, most people might be sleeping at this time. Some of you might recognize the face looking back at the camera, a bleeding cut on her shoulder - holding something in her hands ... just out of the view of the frame. but she looks... the same. no worse for wear, mostly annoyed if anything. ] 

I'd ask what the point of sending someone out, only to return them without letting them set foot home first was but I doubt anyone would be able to give me a solid answer. I apparently was gone three months, I have a new living situation and they expect me to sell swimwear when I don't have the first idea of how to do that.

Finn? Poe, if you're both still here... I remember this place. 

[ Really her swimming skills are... barely skills. Her shoulders slump and she holds something - two somethings up. what was once the hilt of a very familiar lightsaber, broken straight in half. ]

And... I'm going to need help repairing this. 

[ she hesitates, as if to say something else - but thinks better of it and turns off the feed. ]

[ ...Rey, why are you like this? You're only making him despair for the future of the galaxy even more than he already is. The wounded noise Luke let out at the sight of his father's damaged lightsaber only drives home just how much this is affecting him, and he gingerly reached for the pieces. ]

What happened?

[ And now she feels guilty again. ] After I found you - I held onto it, you didn't seem to want it back. [ Referring to her own Luke, who'd wanted little to do with that life as possible, who she'd had to beg to train her. She's glossing over much of the story, but she doesn't want to remind him of that future he goes to. That's not what she's trying to do, here. ]

I had it with me, on board the Supremacy, after Kylo killed the Supreme Leader. We both went for the lightsaber, and the crystal shattered under the force of it. Must've knocked us both out.

[ And she leaves out the part where he'd asked her to join him, but it's still fresh on her mind. Luke would not need the Force to feel her disappointment and sadness, then - and then resolve when that door had closed. ]

[ Honestly, he could guess. After all, the same offer had been presented to him -- different circumstances, but still. Luke took a deep breath, letting it out slow as he looked over the two pieces. ]

I... it's not mine to take again.

[ He let out a soft breath, looking over the pieces again, frowning slightly. ]

I... think this is fixable. Maybe even with materials that can be found here.

[ Rey looks at him, brows raised. the core looks wrecked, but she's never worked on a lightsaber before. if she can get a better idea of it, and someone who knows a thing or two... well, there's one of them standing right here in front of her. ]

Where do I start?

[faithfulson]

[ Luke paused a moment, his mouth open to tell her as he gazed down at the crystal, before he clicked his mouth shut. ]

...no.

[ He reached for her hands, gently setting the pieces in them and folding her fingers over them. ]

I will provide you with tools and knowledge of what to do, but how to do it... that you must find on your own.

[ Rey sighs, her expression drops briefly but then the firm resoluteness is back in place as she looks over the saber in her hands.

Make it her own. ]

I thought you might say something like that.

[faithfulson]

[ He smiled faintly at that, allowing his hands to disappear back under his cloak. ]

You're different, you know. Then the last time you were here. You have everything you need to fix this; you just need to trust your instincts.
