[ Gold. Hopefully you like gold, because you will see a lot of it. Heavy golden walls behind a large golden throne. Comfortably seated within? A potentially new face, looking pleased and overall just friendly enough despite being clad in full armor, complete with large, horned helmet and holding a golden spear in his hand.

Can you possibly see through illusions? Then enjoy Loki occupying a regular living room while casually holding a broom. He's just here to deliver a show, really. The armor and helmet are real, however.

After permitting the image to settle for a moment, he finally speaks. Loki's initial words are measured carefully. ]

Mortals of this realm.

[ He raises from his throne and takes a step forward before settling into a meaningful pose. ]

You have earned yourself the protection of a god.

[ You get another moment to take this in. Or just enjoy looking at this god. Then, all of Loki's dignified behavior and display slips away in favor of a wide, open grin and his unoccupied hand gestures lightly. ]

They could have just asked, though. You know? Instead of just pulling me here and--

[ He lets that trail off with a dismissive wave of his hand. Let's not talk about that, okay? ]

I am Loki. Rightful King of Asgard.

[ That same hand that has just been gesturing dismissively is now placed over his own chest as Loki offers a bow to his audience. ]

And I look forward to serving you.

[ Oh, he sure tells stories. A lot of them if you give him the chance. Right now though he's much more interested in finding out what reactions he might gain himself with his little display.

The Asgardian settles with a mild smile. ]

The setting as it was had very little appeal to it. And I think it would be expected of me to properly introduce myself.

Most of us just pop on to ask loads of questions when we first get here. At least, I noticed I wasn't the only one that had done. Also, you didn't actually answer my question.

Many of those realms had no name. And most were not as welcoming as this one.

The question about his armor he is more willing to answer. ]

My people do indeed tend to dress with armor quite often. Asgardians are warriors. Always have been. And since you asked: Yes. I myself have studied the arcane.

Are your own people more of the peaceful kind?

Asgardian? I just heard of that recently; someone else from there was here, I guess, but he's gone now. Is that a planet or something? Only, I've never heard of it. I'm not great with geography or, I suppose since you've said "god," I'm pretty crap at mythology as well.

My people as in human or my people as in mermaids? Humans, I suppose, have their moments of peace. Bit more into war in different parts of the world, but in my country, we sort of stay out of it if we can, yeah?

I only know three other mermaids, though, so I dunno if that's a big enough sample size for a generalization like that.

[ Just ignore that light grimace. ]

We are both of Asgard. Which is indeed a different realm - a different planet.

[ But oh, he perks up with interest at those words. ]

( She notices the light grimace, but she just assumes it's because he must know him and doesn't like him much. It's the same sort of reaction she'd have had if she'd come in and he'd mentioned he'd known someone else had been here from Gold Coast and she knew he'd been referring to Zane. She's not going to pick at that scab for Loki, if she's right. )

I am, yeah. Honestly, I've only been for a few years, so I don't actually know an awful lot about them, either, beyond what I know about...myself? I know about my powers more from my file than from experience, but I've gotten really good at them since I got here.

( She looks proud of herself, she can't help it. )

He may be better off back in Asgard.

[ Well, yeah, let's not talk further about Thor and Loki will be happy enough. He literally just escaped from being dragged back to Asgard by Thor, so any absence of Thor is very much welcome. ]

Though... What exactly are the powers of a mermaid? If you do not mind me asking.

I think most of us might be better off at home. Things get weird here.

( There are some, like Ben, who definitely are not going to be better off at home, but still. )

We have loads, actually. Besides actually turning into a mermaid, I can control liquids in all of their different forms. Erm, bit wary of messing with the pyro-, electro-, and aerokinesis stuff, as I've not used them in my right mind in a long while and they're a bit more destructive if I'm not especially careful, so I actually haven't done much with those. Also, I can swim 600 km/h and I can hold my breath under water something like half an hour, now. Maybe longer if I keep practicing.

What are your powers? If you don't mind my asking.

( You asked first, Loki, just remember that. She certainly will. )

I agree, in part. For the time being I do not mind being here.

[ It gives him time to figure out what to do about his potential future imprisonment.

For now he makes a mental note to properly look up mermaids later. And that this woman appears to have some sort of magic at her own disposal. Control over liquids...

Her question is considered with a moment of silence. Loki has of course read his own file and in some regard hasn't been too pleased with some of the wordings in it. But it gave him an idea of what he can still do.

He raises a hand to gesture around him, wordlessly pointing out his still present illusion. ]

I have studied the arcane. Illusions and shape shifting and a few minor tricks. I can summon and dismiss my armor, for example.

[ Yes, he is keeping a lot to himself. Obviously. ]

( Honestly? She looks a little disappointed by his response. )

( Belatedly, she realizes that proooobably sounds rude. )

Sorry, only...how are you meant to protect us like you said in your original video if all you can do is illusions?

( She's not that great at apologies or at smoothing over her own missteps. But really, even she could protect people more with her control of liquids — most living things do have blood and water in their bodies, after all, which technically means she could control their movements if she felt so inclined. She doesn't, really, but in a pinch in an emergency, she could — than some visual magic or slight of hand could do... He's got to have more than just that at his disposal, hasn't he?

It all depends on what you're doing with them. And you tend to forget: I am Asgardian.

[ Frost Giant, really. But he still refuses to truly acknowledge that little detail. ]

I also mentioned that I can shift shapes. Everything else comes down to the right tactics.

I suppose that's true, though...that's a point. I wouldn't know how you could use that sort of thing as a weapon, but then again, I'm sure people would think that about my mermaid stuff.

Let me just say that I have a couple of physical advantages towards humans.

[ And those have nothing to do with any magic. He chuckles. ]

I do not outright weaponize those spells. But believe me, I have my ways to use them very efficiently.

I believe you, I just wouldn't have a frame of reference to think how you might, is all.

To keep this simple: I tend to be a lot stronger than a human. And most human weapons can not harm me. There have been plenty of attempts to try just that.

[ And it's all fun and games until a massive, green monster come around the corner. ]

Misunderstandings. A thousand years ago they were simply frightened of us when we showed up.
