As they should be. Never trust anyone who doesn't like cats, and frankly, if the cats don't like THEM? Run.

I'm fine with the former, but I'm a little unsure of the latter.

They're generally very good judges of character.

I'll take your word for it. I've never had pets myself. Too many books and my dads were paranoid about them getting damaged.

Your dads' concerns are not unfounded; you get a troublemaker now and again, but they're not difficult to train.

Have you trained a lot of cats? What tips would you recommend?

Something like that.

Persistence and anything that annoys them. You don't want them sleeping on the furniture? Spray a scent they aren't fond of, like citrus.

So, keeping at it and fruits. Seems simple enough.

Cats are stubborn little things, but they aren't stupid. If they feel inconvenienced, they're much less likely to waste their time.

Plus, there's like a bunch of people here who can talk to cats, so I think you'll be alright. Assuming you ever adopt one, of course.

Food. Naps. Interesting, shiny lights.

I don't actually TALK to them, myself, but that seems to be the gist of it.
