I know things seem hopeless right now. Hitting you with a bunch of platitudes like 'it's always darkest before the dawn' or 'hope will light our darkest hour' might seem like me, but even I can recognize that those are just...words. And in the face of something like this...a greatest fear realized, platitudes don't amount to much.

But not all words are weightless in times of strife.

I ask now that you all take a moment to take stock. Look around. Think of the people you've met here. They say faith is a powerful weapon. The thing is, faith is not an infinite resource. The more people put faith in some...divine being that they have no way of comprehending, the less faith they have to put in themselves.

We have, among us, some of the most powerful people, the most brilliant minds, and the most skillful of beings collected in one place. Just because there's a problem coming our way, that doesn't mean it's the end. And just because a goddess is on her way doesn't mean we should have faith in a single outcome.
