Hello.

My name is Jean and after reading through your posts here, I thought it might be a good idea to utilize this space to introduce myself and put feelers out for those who might know -- or know of -- me. Establish where our paths might have crossed, if at all, and maybe learn about your experiences here.

[ Her tone softens and warms significantly, less formal and introductory now: ]

I'd be interesting in learning about your experiences here even if we don't know each other, actually. Don't be shy.

[ A moment after posting this to the network, Jean broadcasts a telepathic message to those whose brain patterns and engrams are distinctly mutant asking those who might receive the message to get in touch. (No telling how far that message reaches, just given there are mutants from different universes and whatnot - feel free to do with this what you will!) ]

[ A few months. And she hadn't even noticed, which is perhaps just a little troubling to think about. They're not missing in action or leaving those back home to fend for themselves and the survival of their people alone, but it also means no one will notice that they're gone.

Jean's smile takes on something wistful and she shakes her head. Files all that away to deal with later. ]

How lucky, you arrive just in time for the end of the world.

What about this place? You've been here a little while now and you are your father's son, I'm sure you've been keeping an eye on things.

Yeah. I was really feeling the love. [ His tone is sarcastic, but he is still grinning. ]

There is a lot, so sit back and hang on.

There is some unrest, but the world is mostly peaceful. There are heroes and villains and civilians, no anti-mutant hate, a little anti-Import fervor, but not even close to what we faced back home.

The government is keeping its counsel very close, and I am fairly sure they know a little more than we do, about what is going on, but I don't know how much.

In addition, there is something you should know, something I just figured out here, in case you did not catch it while they were whirring you around in the base. You don't have powers of your own anymore, and neither do I, No one does.

Everyone loses their powers utterly, completely, on arriving. The nanites that are injected in us? Those restore a simulation of them, but sometimes less, changed, or even new entirely. They also, as far as I can tell, allow restoration from near-death, over time.

How does that work -- simulating our abilities? As far as I can tell, mine are unchanged, but I haven't exactly had a reason or chance to really flex my mental muscles.

Have their nanites done anything to change your abilities?

[ Anger shows for a moment as he speaks, but he hauls it back in as he talks, his words going from angry to almost like a teacher giving a lecture. ]

Basically, our powers are stripped away when we enter this world, and the nanites somehow can simulate them, recreating them like, or unlike, what we had before.

And as for me? yes. The upper levels of my powers are just... gone. My infection is now just dormant cybernetic body parts. And I can now sense when people are using sensory powers near me.

If you are affected like me, you will likely find your endurance shortened, and your power levels chopped off at a certain level.

[ She doesn't like the sound of all of that. Jean raises a hand slightly, the framing on the video feed changing as she lifts the communicator. It's such a small thing, and yet, she's curious to see if she can still do it. ]

Might be a good idea to find out where my limits are in a controlled environment...
