Okay, what are we doing about all the people who went missing? Are we really sitting on our butts doing nothing? Did they all go back home? Did the government snatch them all up and hold them in their own Beast Island?
I don't care about most of you, but I want answers and I bet a bunch of you do, too. Where are we supposed to be getting them?

I've tried to compile a list of the missing but people haven't been very co-operative and my investigation has come to a few dead ends.

I don't know most of the people around here. [Doesn't really care either. There's one person she cares about.]

maybe there's something there that people missed
I'm not leaving my friend alone

we could do it ourselves
I can sneak you in and we can start looking

[They might need someone else in on this.]

but I'm good at getting into places I shouldn't be

You can do whatever you want, but don't expect honesty. They want us here to use us. When people are missing, they aren't going to tell us if it's their fault.

They simply vanished, all at once. No panic. No anger. No struggle.
Whatever happened, it is well outside the capabilities of anyone here.

So the government didn't cause it. Good. But that doesn't mean they don't know what did. Not that they seem to be saying anything.

While there is certainly the possibility they might have some idea, I'm not overly optimistic. The technological progress- or lack of it- does not lead me to believe we're dealing with a particularly bright civilization.
If there were any one probable cause, I would wager it has something to do with the calamity we narrowly averted some months ago. And the beings responsible.

But I recall warnings about potential dimensional instability being a consequence of the method chosen for being rid of them. However, this is just a hypothesis- and one I have no means to test, at that.

[That's not what Lonnie wants to hear. She doesn't want to think about the fact that Catra may have just disappeared on her and now she's all alone--more alone than she'd already been.]
But if people can leave, then a bunch more people could show up at any time too and we have seen that. It might not have anything to do with that. [She needs to believe that.]
[Honestly Ren doesn't trust anything right now.]
That sounds harsh.
I think the best we can do is try to figure it out. There's no sign of them all disappearing either. Usually from what I've been told it's more of a few people. The fact so many are gone is very strange.
I don't really have a power that could help us in this case.
Besides, that's not what matters. We're trying to find out where all the missing people went. If that means I need to start breaking tech until someone pays attention, maybe I will.
[Because Ren was a traitor to society at one part. Still this isn't important for now, this can continue later. As they said, this can come later.]
Is that one of your powers? Super strength? I don't think smashing things will get them to collaborate with us.
Me having super strength doesn't have anything to do with what I was talking about. I said I know how to break tech. And this world runs on tech.
See, breaking usually means smashing things where I come from. Thought you were going to break everything until someone had the answer you were looking for. So it's more like hacking into things then?
So what's your plan? Got a target in mind?
I'm not airing all of that out here. I don't even know if I can trust you.
[He tried. You'd be surprised how many people are just open to planning like that.]
It doesn't seem like the type of thing I'd do, but we could always meet to talk if you'd like to see what type of person I am. Maybe for next time.
[If you get what he means by that.]
[Catra is the only person Lonnie is concerned with.]
And I don't want a next time, but whatever. Not like we get a choice what they do to us around here. [More people disappearing? Another round of no knowing what the heck is going on? I's the last thing she wants.]
[Any friends in the same situation, he could understand.]
From what I've heard and seen so far from what little time I've been here, I'd rather prepare than wait.
[He's trying to say he wants to help but without giving it away.]
Ready for anything, huh? If that next time comes, maybe I'll see if you show up.
[She's not hiding who she is here. If he wants to take this to a quieter venue, give her a sign or make the first move.]
Yeah. Meanwhile I'll probably be going to do some research at a cat cafe I was suggested recently.
[He provides the name. No, he doesn't know anything about Catra, it was just a weird series of events of someone suggesting it to him a short while ago.]
If you ever want a coffee, let me know. Good luck in your search.
Yeah, I know of the place. Maybe we'll run into each other there sometime.
