what are the things that this place gives you that you never would have gotten a chance for at home

Definitely - they're missing some key people who were involved back home so I get to step up this time.

Haven't had much luck myself. I'm not exactly looking, but at this stage a root would be nice.

not all roots have to be romantic but that it can definitely ground you
