He's lived all his life without a mother. He can cope with that. Being rejected, though, that's not something he can bear. He doesn't want to find out that he's a disappointment to her.

He started to make tea, not sure how to even begin to tell Yanli what she needed to know. He guided her to the couch so she could sit down, sitting beside her.]

[ He knows texting him had taken effort. But he appreciates it. This is their sister. He lets himself in and makes a beeline to Yanli, dropping to his knees before her so he can fling his arms around her waist and hold on. He doesn't care that it makes him look ridiculous. ]

[Admittedly, it feels a little strange to have Cheng making tea for her but she'll let him fuss. From the looks of things, both he and Wuxian have missed her fiercely and she doesn't want to take that away. Unless it's by comforting them and keeping them company.]
