There is a cruel comfort in knowing that trying to talk to self-declared artists is, regardless of realm, an exercise in patience quite hard to master. I desperately do not care if one has crafted a pinwheel out of garbage, nor shall I be inclined to call it art, thank you very much.

Dare I even send this thought into this void? Perhaps I'll just be inadvertently drawing more of these sorts, eager to fuel some unconscious need to be offended and fight for their honor; it seems to be the way out on the street, in the magazines, and everywhere else...

There must be truly something to the notion of being "spoiled for choice" -- this world seems the absolute perfect example of it. Do parameters of quality even MATTER anymore when there is just so damn much of anything and no one can seem to agree at all?

Sure, why not. The ink you accidentally dripped onto your shoe is now "art."

Gods help me. Rather, someone else just kindly mark a map for me so I know how to avoid these weird avenues in the future and spare us all.

How does it have an impact on you?

By being a persistent presence when it comes to the arts: Were I to go out and search for inspiration or even simply something to consume for my own peace of mind, I must rifle through such garish and unappealing things as these...to say nothing of their creators who are, of course, allowed to be as they are...are not the sort I am inclined to interact with.

More their near-inescapable presence and desperate efforts to sell me on concepts such as "chaos as aesthetic." I had very different expectations when visiting a gallery than some of the things I've found of late...

And we wouldn't want to disappoint those who are real artists, now would we?

Or simply people with eyes and a particular TASTE, thank you very much. It should not be so difficult for me to walk about and find things that are beyond repurposed waste or buckets of paint splatter in this realm of surplus.

Oh, by all means Riptide, let her keep explaining to me why certain types of people have no business reaching above their station. I do so love to be reminded that some people believe you must have a given heritage to be taken seriously. That anything outside the status quo is automatically inferior.

It is going in the direction that you're coming across as policing whom should be allowed to do what based on your arbitrary and asinine judgment of "value", like you have any authority on the matter beyond some infantile indignation of "I don't like it and so it must be bad".

You're parading around phrases such as "parameters of quality" like the arts are your personal dominion, and everyone who does not meet your expectations simply must not have "eyes and a sense of taste".

It is exactly that sort of attitude which built Cybertron's caste system, and I am no more enamored of it now than I was four million years ago when I signed up for the side to help burn it down.
