Good morning/afternoon/evening,

I'm afraid my introduction is long overdue. My name is Dr. Gray, and I arrived in this fair city several weeks ago, although I have to say it's taken that long to really get a handle on my bearings. I've spoken to some of you already, but I thought it was about time I wrote a formal greeting and offered my expertise on a far wider scale.

I've introduced myself as a neurologist and a renowned figure in the sphere of genetically enhanced abilities - at least where my own world is concerned - but my skillset happens to run a little deeper than that. My own ability, such as it is, allows me to see how other people's powers work. What that means is if there's something funky going on with your ability, or you'd like a little help working out how to control something new, I'm the person to call. I'd be more than willing to offer my assistance, actually, because this new world allows me to tap back into my research on the most basic level, this time without the need for the subterfuge imposed on me formerly by the government. It's a world of exciting possibilities! This is what every scientist dreams of being able to do: study what they love and make a difference to real people.

I'm a little camera shy, I'm afraid, but I'd be more than willing to discuss your situation in person. Over coffee and a demonstration, perhaps.

P.S. As I understand it there's some sort of school being formed to do much the same thing. I'd be very grateful for any further information that's available on the subject.

I haven't been able to control my power yet and it's getting kind of shitty, sign me up.

[ .... The thing is, Peter probably would've been fooled. Probably. He's not trying to pick Sylar out of a crowd just for fun nor is he looking for him to show up here; there just isn't a reason to assume that Sylar is around every corner. Peter has other things to worry about, Sylar hasn't even really been in the equation for a short while. Not to mention, his own appearance is enough, but anyone else from back home? That just makes things that much weirder - not helped by all the frustrating face twins.

If only he could be so lucky.

Being intimately acquainted with Sylar's ability makes this glaringly obvious a little ways in and Peter.... has to refrain himself from flipping a proverbial table the second it becomes abundantly clear that Sylar has arrived. This is not good, it's not even a little bit all right, and now Peter has to figure out what to do in the face of a serial killer in their midst. In a word full of abilities. Great. Awesome. Wonderful. Instantly concerned, Peter's even more pissed off than that. As if it's Sylar's fault that he's here; who the hell else is he gonna blame? ]

Is it something you'd care to discuss further now? Nothing too complicated: the type of ability, perhaps, and whether you developed it here or at home.

[ Aww Peter, you made this conversation private just for him. He's touched, really he is, but it begs the question: if he's lost all of his own powers, is it possible that Peter has too? It's one possible reason why he might be this timid.

Either way, timid serves him well for now.

[ He just loves you that much, Sylar. Or something. More like Peter doesn't really want to fling his emotions around in public - he reserves his brutality for more private situations. Unless Nathan is involved and Peter'll just punch him in the face anywhere... Which is utterly beside the point.

Basically Peter looks like the absolute epitome of un-fucking-amused. This is not what he signed up for, not even remotely. And now he has to babysit Sylar. Which means finding him. Which might be something of a difficulty. ]

It is, but at the very least it's a transparent proposal. I've seen the worst that can happen when that isn't the case. Government scrutiny, civilian abduction--it isn't pretty.

You can tell how people's powers work on a biological level?

[ Hm. HM. That's interesting, particularly since Hank Pym has left. ]

Are you talking about Xavier's or the training facility?

[ Yes, and he intends to keep it that way. Which really means moving swiftly out of his government assigned housing. It isn't like he has the right to be there. ]

And I'm confident you really don't want mine. Not that it would be much of a fight.

I'm curious, Peter. What's the last thing you remember?

It's by whatever means the Porter uses that powers are kept and others ...well, not-so-much. Getting a little up close & personal is a bit like stretching the envelope, isn't it?

That's correct. It applies to more than just powers, but it's the function I've found to be the most useful.

So if one were to have lost powers, the Porter would be responsible?

[ stiles considers. he's not always totally comfortable talking about it publicly, for his own weird self-esteem issues with a side dose of derek-induced paranoia. but he doesn't actually think hunters are gonna hunt him for powers everyone got given, and he's pretty sure the info's out there: on the network, in his file. so he doesn't even bother encrypting. ]

Random teleporting. Can't make it happen on command, but I can land clean, I don't know how, I just never get stuck in stuff. Brand spanking new courtesy of our government recruitment. I'm also registered for the imPort school but hey, any port in a storm.

Neurology's more than just brains, right? It's nerves too? Hank Pym had set up an imPort facility to teach people how to use their powers. To give them a safe environment. I can't remember who took it over when he left. The other one's an actual school, so I don't know how much you feel like taking algebra again. Unless you want to teach algebra.

so. theres a limit on my powers that means i cant do a thing that im pretty sure i should be able to. do you think youd be able to tell me why that is?

I've worked with a teleporter before; I doubt there's anything random about it, and in fact you may find with practice it's one of the more useful abilities that you could have been granted.

Is there anything more to it? The teleporter I met could also manipulate time.

Isn't that what you've always craved? The recognition of an elder sibling? It's such a shame you'll never get it.
